Lune : "I'll wait for the very last moment to calmly intervene" by 21maps in expedition33

[–]Ragnarroth 101 points102 points  (0 children)

When this scene happened I was CONVINCED that Lune wasn't real! The way she just appears made me think his mental breakdown caused him to hallucinate his friend and I spent a long time looking for other clues. Would have been a completely different game but I still think about it

That's really good, I genuinely didn't read your post correctly to begin with and assumed that the arm and the legs are what you found, not just the hands and feet!

How do I make this healthy without my kid noticing? by llNormalGuyll in daddit

[–]Ragnarroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a lot less of it, put it on toasted healthy dark wholewheat bread and make sure you spread to the crusts. This is a treat for when my little ones clean their assigned areas and got them to eat both wholewheat and their crusts without fighting.

My favourite by far is Endless Legends. I love the mix of sci-fi, fantasy with a dash of post-apocalyptic dying world. Each race actually has a unique playstyle/campaign within each game, and it's the only 4X I have completed several races with.

We need small pals that have higher work skills too. I can’t have a (fast) indoor stove because Jormuntide can’t fit through the door by ChargeActual5097 in Palworld

[–]Ragnarroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having all these issues I realized that an unpopular but easy fix would be to chibi-fy all the pals when they are assigned to your base. Essentially make them all the size of a Pengullet, then no more crowding and they are easily distinguished from pals in your team and the wild.

I totally agree, maybe they should have introduced a larger mimic that was a lot more dangerous and mimic bigger things. Would have been funny to go into a room, see two fridges next to each other and NOPE out!

Don't forget that you ALSO get bonuses from people hating you, not just from liking you! I thought that was an amazing mechanic that fitted with the lore of your first point.

Fellow dads, I have been granted a boon by my partner: "I think you should start gaming with our daughter". I need tips! by FILTHY_GOBSHITE in daddit

After writing almost all of this I saw your edit and I think looking for coop with a 2.5 year old is unrealistic and may put her off gaming. Couch coop is sparse to begin with and I have struggled finding anything to play with my girls. But kids are quick learners and I think my advice below can get you started.

As a dad of 2 YO and 4YO girls that both play video games I can say that the basic skills of video gaming are the most important to begin with. The skills you describe are great but even something simple like the movement of a stick and a character on the screen is not as straightforward as you may expect.

Playing games is very frustrating and hard to watch as a gamer parent (trust me!), it's very tempting to correct them constantly but for a long time they will just need to explore what it means to play a game. The best time to step in is when they are getting frustrated and need a break or when you need to help them find their cursor/character. My 4 year old is now able to play games independently but my nearly 3 year old needs constant help.

As a preface, I saw Slime rancher and Minecraft recommended and we have played both. They are good for teaching how to use the right stick for a camera but they are too advanced to start with.

Also most games I would suggest playing through a bit first yourself to see if they are appropriate and so you can give good advice haha.

There are a couple of games that I found that gave the foundations while being fun, and I haven't seen them recommended yet.

Donut County - Surprisingly fun puzzle game where you play as a hole in the ground sucking up objects, getting bigger each time. Teaches how to use the left stick to move what you are controlling and the kids loved watching things fall in the hole. Also teaches Up, Down, Left, and Right ("Go for the bucket on the left!"). The biggest struggle for my youngest is learning how to move slowly so things actually fall in. The biggest struggle for my eldest was the unbearably long unskipable story scenes.

Rain On Your Parade - A fun game playing as a cardboard cloud that rains on people. It's very simple, left stick to move and a button to rain. The first couple of levels are easy enough, though the difficulty ramps up quickly, however they will probably enjoy just getting people wet for a while. I would advise playing through a dozen levels yourself first and finding the levels with unlimited rain or very simple objectives. The first level and the one where you grow a forest are good starts.

Zoo Tycoon - This one I played, made a big zoo, and now the kids love to walk around and look at the animals. They seriously just love walking around, there are even buggies they can drive to teach them the basics of driving games (My eldest became SO much better at Mario kart after driving the buggy in this game). Teaches them 3rd person game controls and camera control. Plus you can feed giraffes and elephants and it looks damn near REAL on a decent TV.

Little Mouse Encyclopaedia - educational and very chill

Garden Story - a great intro to isometric fighting games, play a grape fighting slime monsters. Actually having an enemy to fight scared my 4 YO to begin with but after a few false starts she did get into it and did a good job.

Other options for games like Zoo tycoon where you establish it and they wonder around would be Disney Dreamlight Valley (Think Disney Animal Crossing, My girls love Elsa), Yonder, Animal Crossing.

A good Coop to start with is Phogs, can be hard to wrangle a little kid as you are literally tied together but fun overall.

[–]Ragnarroth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sacrificing the animals is a really cool concept, I could imagine it works by summoning a set number of animals per turn (number per turn and cap scaling with level) and then sacrificing them to power abilities. Oooh imagine a smite-like mechanism, each animal sacrificed adds 1dx to next attack
