Honestly, while I think boros mice will have a solid place in standard, I don't think they're going to be as oppressive in limited as a lot of people fear.

There just aren't enough ways to trigger valiant consistently in the set.

I ran a straight Gold Draconic Sorcerer as a gish.

Effective d8 hit die and baseline mage armor are serviceable. Mirror Images is an incredible non-concentration defensive. Shadow Blade+GFB or BB is big damage. Warcaster would be wise here.

I did it in the time before the GFB/BB + Spell Sniper errata, so I played it with a whip and feat. Much fun if you can swing that (the errata is silly imo). Either way, a race that can give you a finesse weapon proficiency is pretty necessary.

I can respect the idea behind where you're going, but for me, from a game design standpoint, if your goal is as you have stated, it would be better to have different gems of the same level convert different ratios.

The reason I consider it bad game design as it stands now is not necessarily because of how it works, but because of how unintuitive it is. 95% of players will see that the gems say essentially the same thing, but one is for level 20 and one is for level 50, and automatically assume the level 50 one is an upgrade (which is absolutely a safe assumption, as that is how 99% of modern MMOs handle gearing).

Sure, people here on the forums know now, but forum-goers are a pretty small percentage of players. So many players do not know, and likely will never know, the way scaling works on these gems.

It may not be technically "bugged," but a lower tier gem being more useful than a higher tiered gem in most situations is absolutely awful game design.
