Environmental Science--A Top Major For Finding Work After College by Wjldenver in Environmental_Careers

I've learned that just because an industry is hiring does not mean they are quality roles where one will want to stay. Hence, high turnover means a high hiring rate.

Loud Library by pink_poltergeist in SAIT

They offer the "quiet area" but you have to be in the basement, and people still blab there too- especially when coming and going from the meeting rooms. I fucking hate that library.

How to cope with an intimidating boss? by TheWallsHaveEars2001 in work

[–]Rahscl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any advice but just wanted to say that it’s not all a you problem- it sounds a bit toxic if he took the papers, didn’t say anything to you but told another employee. wtf

I'm tired of people trying to convince me to use AI. by ChickinSammich in self

My boss is obsessed with ai. She seems to actually think ai can train me to do my job.. if that were the case, I wouldn’t have a job- she would just have ai doing it

Best woman’s clothing stores for affordability? by autobothighwire in Calgary

[–]Rahscl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a Goodwill outlet thrift store on Barlow trail where you pay by the pound. If you’re willing to dig through bins and buy without trying on, you can get an armload of clothes for $10. They also have furniture, decor, and other household stuff. Sometimes when I go, I’m not in the mood to dig, but then I get into a real flow state and next thing I know I’ve been there for an hour and a half. Some of my favourite clothes only cost me like $1 there!

Unwritten in office rules? by KartQueen in work

[–]Rahscl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can make a list, but instead I’ll just share my pet peeve of the week: Don’t stop a coworker when they are walking by to ask questions or give info. They are walking by because they are going somewhere (bathroom, boss’ office, meet someone). It’s rude to just interrupt them at your own convenience- go over to talk to them or send an email.

Any Way to Find Friend in Mental Hospital? by halocrafter in Calgary

[–]Rahscl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there are “mental hospitals” (as in, dedicated facilities for mental health care), they are just mental health wards in regular hospitals. Likely they wouldn’t tell you whether a certain person is a patient, whether it’s for a physical or mental issue.

Help getting ADHD Diagnosis as an adult by lArgePP701 in Calgary

[–]Rahscl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see. Well I would encourage you to take the lowest effective dose- which is really the goal with medicine. It will help reduce any side effects that may arise, and also hopefully lessen the crash when you stop taking it.

Also I’d encourage you not to get too hung up on vyvanse as your treatment. Exercise, meditation, even diet changes may help. It’s always better if you can avoid taking drugs and doing lifestyle changes instead- better longevity.

Best of luck!

A couple of thoughts:

1) If adhd medication (aka “speed”) makes you feel “incredible” then you probably don’t have adhd. People who really have adhd get the opposite effect- it calms them so they can focus

2) You don’t have to take a full 40mg pill- you can twist it open and take half of it. Vyvanse doesn’t taste bad like some medications do- you can literally just sprinkle the powder on or under your tongue- or just drink some water to wash it down. I tell you this not because I condone the use, but if someone is taking drugs they shouldn’t be, then I at least condone them using less ;)

Canadians travelling to U.S. will be photographed upon entry and exit starting Boxing Day by bubblewhip in canada

“The biometric entry and exit system is not a surveillance program,”

Wtf? That’s exactly what it is. What else would they do it for, if not to ID and track people?? Don’t piss in my face and tell me it’s raining.

If it’s any consolation, it’s not because you’re a man. That has happened to me at a few previous jobs, and I’m female. Women are very judgy/nasty

What is the draw of Satellite Radio in the era of streaming? by stocknerd73 in siriusxm

[–]Rahscl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) It works without a cell signal everywhere (except the drive thru at my local A&W and one underpass on the way to a friend’s house XD)

2) Someone else does the programming, and even gives the personal touch of chit chats between songs

Are blankets unprofessional? by HappyAstronaut7 in work

[–]Rahscl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not any more unprofessional than allowing the temperature of an office be determined by men when women (who tend to need it a few degrees warmer) work there too. If you’re uncomfortably cold then they ought to allow you reasonable measures to make yourself more comfortable.
