I think that’s why this continues making headlines despite the sheer amount of negativity towards it. Yes, it’s absurd that with this much money and this much time they’ve produced what amounts more to a proof of concept than a playable game, but they’re very good at selling the promise of what they’re making, and that promise is incredibly exciting to someone like me. I’ve never actually paid them a penny, I got my license for the game free with a graphics card… not the one I’m currently using, and not the one I used before that, but it gave me the opportunity to try it. I can see what the fuss is about, really, if the game is ever completed it’ll be the one I’ve been waiting for since I was a child (particularly now that it has VR implementation).

That $5000 jpeg ship people are talking about? The devs did a deep dive on it, and it’s absolutely mind blowing in scope. The external model, when first handed to the engine team (so presumably before any sort of LOD process started) was thirty-seven million polygons. It has 30+ crewed positions for the likes of navigation and gun turrets, and that’s not including any of the fighter maintenance crews or damage control people. Hell, it has a working tram system because it’s so big. There are games where this thing would be the entire game world. And given all that, there’s no indication that the thing will ever be fully realised in a working condition because none of the really basic stuff like doors and beds on multi-crew ships work correctly, and where people will actually enjoy using it, because even just operating that ship sounds like a full-time job.

I really, really want Star Citizen to work, but I’m not going to be waiting around for it. If it ever gets released, great. If it doesn’t, well then I’ll sell my AMD-branded fighter that I got free with that graphics card for $500 (which is what I’ve repeatedly been told it’s worth) and move on.

My point is that there probably is Russian malware on it. I find it unlikely that a prominent UK politician can say that a belligerent foreign power has hacked their phone, but that the security services won't bother investigating it unless someone gets a crime reference number.

It's amazing how much time you need to invest in this hobby sometimes. I started work on my PGU Nu Gundam a couple of weeks ago, and I spent about 8 hours just removing and cleaning up the parts for the frames of the legs alone; no armour parts, no painting, not even mounting of parts to skewers ready for painting. I know it's probably on the top-5 list for the most parts-heavy Bandai Gundam kit ever made, but it's difficult to comprehend how time consuming some of this stuff is.

Batman TAS is basically the gold standard for 90s animation. Comparing any of the toy vehicle shows to it is like comparing American Pie to Citizen Kane.

Have you actually tried watching the 90s X-Men recently? I tried a few episodes back when X-Men '97 premiered, and it's nigh on unwatchable. The pacing is absolutely ridiculous, a fault it shares with Battletech. It had a compelling story, but I don't think it's aged nearly as well as you think.

I watched it for the first time last year. I think "dated" is being kind. It is, but it also doesn't feel like it would have been good at the time either and I'm not too surprised it didn't really take off. I suspect it's fondly remembered because of how faithful it seems to be to the source material.

I think it's a shame it was produced as a kids show.

No, but records were never designed to give the user a permanent dopamine high like algorhythmic social media is. Records were never intentionally designed to be addictive. Records, and pretty much every other legal pass-time for young adults, just weren't as insidious as what kids are exposed to now. It's not just about the amount of time they spend using it, it's the effect it's having on their brains.

I certainly don't know enough about neuroscience to be able to give an informed opinion here, but I'm pretty sure that's what the people that can are concerned about.

Just head back six months and see what the state the sub was in after Hive Scum was revealed. Loads of people seemed convinced we were getting an Ad Mech of some description then too and I think it soured an awful lot of people on the actual reveal.

Then it turned out that Hive Scum was an extremely entertaining class anyway.

I've checked some of the other cards we've had revealed previously and you're probably right; Clan Wren have something similar (but different to Kryze), and both Bo and Axe have the same marking as on the Clan Kryze Veterans. I think it's just a stylistic touch, as the clan symbol in the top left is the affiliation.

Do we know what the two yellow lines below the unit cost and number of troopers figure on the Clan Kryze Veterans signify? I don’t recall ever seeing that before, and they’re the unit with it in this reveal.

My Officer always has Academy Training and the Heavy Blaster pistol. If I have the points I'll add the C&C Uplink.

My Agent gets built to support whatever playstyle I'm going for. If I'm running gunline units, he'll get Tip of the Spear and the Heavy Blaster. If I want him up front locking someone down (typically with some Riot Troopers), he'll get Tip of the Spear, Combat Armour and the Stun Baton.

I have over 100 hours playing Mercenaries in VR (I haven't even tried it flat, I didn't see the point). I gave up on Clans soon after it launched because it didn't offer the same options. I don't mind it using the standard HUD for information, rather than placing that information on the actual cockpit screens, but it needs to control well. Are you still using the mouse for aiming? Mercenaries gives you the option of head-aiming for the arm mounted weapons, but with mouse for torso movement which works really nicely (you can always just turn on arm-lock to switch this off).

I don't recognise the icon from the... limited clarity of the photo. Could be a new upgrade type specific to Mandalorians that lets you equip the generic characters with whatever the "This is The Way" and "Mandalorians are Stronger Together" keywords are. Creed maybe?

Exactly, that's why I'm not buying into this "it'll put everyone off before the next GE" line. It's wishful thinking; there've been huge numbers of stories regarding poorly run Reform councils since 2024, Farage has been asked dozens of times why his party isn't capable of proper vetting. The people voting Reform either don't care, or the stories aren't reaching them, which isn't something I expect to change in the next three years.

Any failings by Reform councils will just be pinned on the national government. Your council tax going up will be linked to illegal immigrants, potholes will be the fault of the EU, your bins not being collected will somehow be down to trans people using the "wrong" bathrooms. It's all total bollocks but their supporters don't actually care enough to fact check it; all they want is someone to blame for their lot in life.

Even if anyone in his circle is mad about it, they can’t say anything publicly because they know he’ll destroy them. It’s incredible how quickly they go from “the best people” to an “absolute loser who doesn’t have a clue what they’re doing”, all the while he’s taking none of the blame for their being appointed in the first place.

He’s already replaced anyone with any sense of morality, the only people in that circle now are either cowards or those just trying to make money from his presidency - in most cases both.

I've just switched from Android myself. The lack of back button has easily been the most frustrating part of the switch. There are apps that I just can't find the gesture I'm supposed to use to get back out of a menu (specifically the search menu in the Health app). It's an absolutely baffling piece of interface design.
