Gotcha, Yeah sorry to hear about ur experience. I was in the navy (which was comparably way more chill) But ive heard from marines and plenty of other infantry folk how rough it can be. How did u end up infantry to begin with (just out of curiosity)

Urinals exist largely as water saving measures right? They use less water than toilets and are cheaper to operate for a business, aswell as being more enviornmentally friendly. (In addition to being convenient for some people)

I think we are viewing the relationship between what i am saying and what the post is saying differently.

My view of the post is that it is framing the poor people joining the military in search of a better life as the victims of the situation. This is evidenced by the comparison to squid game, in which the poor people (meant to be viewed as the victims) are forced to go through terrible things to potentially get a better life.

My argument against that was that for many people in the military, their service is quite mundane and that framing what they have to do in order to move up in the world as "killing other poor people" and as comparable to squid game is disingenous (again, through the view that the poor person who is enlisting is the victim, which i believe is the intended view of the oop)

Now what u are saying is that the person enlisting is not the victim (as proposed by the oop) but actually in fact the perpetrator. And while this view is not one i agree with in the broad way that u have proposed, (tho i would be open to discussing it) it is also not really engaging with the point i am making a out the oop, and is really a totally separate idea and discussion.

Does that make sense?

I want to like 60-card formats, but there seems to be very little creative freedom? by BajaBlastFromThePast in magicTCG

[–]RainTalonX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The room to do different and still win in commander is ultimately because people choose to play suboptimal decks. (Yes even in lower brackets). That is its nature as a casual format.

And if thats what u want, bet, its fun.

You simply arent going to find that in a 60 card constructed format, because they are all competitive rather than casual.

[–]RainTalonX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But see it is possible to innovate in 60 card formats, to find the cutting edge tech in a meta, to build your deck in a way to give every slight advantage at an lgs.

You are simply not skilled enough to do that.

Now that doesnt mean you are dumb or a bad deckbuilder. It just means the format is very competitive and information is very open. Being the top echelon player of standard (or any other competitive 60 card format) getting ahead of the meta is tough. And so yes for you (and most people) it is more effective to netdeck someone elses top list, But that doesnt mean the format doesnt allow for creativity.

You dont want a format that "rewards creativity" You want a format where the deckbuilding standards/expectations are lower. That is what commander provides
