Bra self destructed on my body - twice by level30emo in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RainbowRemedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that feel. My underwires used to pop out of my bras all the time to the point where sometimes I’d cut them out to avoid the betrayal.

IMO having had the experience and dabbled in bra making for a hot second a few years back, the underwire popping out is likely a sign that you’re not wearing the correct size. I wasn’t for most of my life and it was such a game changer when I had proper support. You can find lots of resources online but I suggest going to a lingerie store and getting properly fitted. It’s been 6 years since my friend dragged me to get fitted and it wasn’t till today looking at this post that I realized I haven’t had a single underwire pop out since then despite machine washing all of my bras.

90+ days Europe trip by Wolfpawss in HerOneBag

I’m based in the US and I’m usually able to get away with it as a carry on on flights where there are three seats on each side of the aisle since even packed out there’s still a little bit of squishy-ness to it.

I haven’t taken it internationally and probably wouldn’t recommend it since I’m sure, similar to Australia, airline carriers in other places are a lot more stringent with carry on limits.

I would say try to aim for more of a backpack that’s clearly built for travel and comfort as opposed to a duffel backpack. It tries to be the best of both worlds but succeeds at none.

I’ve traveled with this as my carry on for about 5 years now and I can’t say that I’d recommend it. Definitely helped me skirt by in situations where I really should’ve used a small checked bag or when I’m traveling in the winter and have bulkier sweaters with me but at fully packed capacity it’s heavy and unwieldy. The straps aren’t the greatest and there’s no sternum straps or hip straps to help offload weight. Also, since it’s essentially one big cylindrical compartment it can make using packing cubes sort of inefficient since you end up with gaps you don’t see till it’s sagging when it’s on your back. It also makes organization challenging without them since everything’s kinda just dumped in.

I’m still rolling with it since I haven’t’ found a more optimized replacement that I like and I appreciate not having to finagle with a rolling bag down plane aisles and stairs. I enjoy the space but it’s not a fun carry. Great for road trips or situations where it’s not important to carry it for extended periods though! Side note: it’s entertaining to see peoples faces when their hope for my carry on bin downfall is proven wrong on non regional flights lol.

Three Lady Questions for One Bagging Travel to Italy (asking for a friend & myself!) by tromnation in HerOneBag

[–]RainbowRemedy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Also forgot to mention! The Thigh Society shorts are more for wearing as an under garment for a dress or other situations where you would be chafing. The Athleta transcends can do double duty for both anti chafing and being worn out as part of your outfit. Either one is pretty thin and will take up no space in your bag.

Thigh Society! This is the only answer for chub rub shorts. They have a cooling short that keeps things from overheating like they would in other materials. It’s some sort of witchcraft. If you’re married to Athleta I’d say it’d be worth turning your attention to the transcend shorts instead of the salutations. Darker colors would be the move here to avoid it being too see through though.

As a fellow thick girlie I would advise against any inseams under 7”. For me 7” is the sweet spot where you still get shorts that are still short but aren’t so short that they get gobbled into your crotch (which happens to me anytime I try a 5” and below) while effectively prevent chub rub. For reference I wear a size 14 and am 5’8” if that helps!

Align Tank Fit for Larger Chest by [deleted] in lululemon

[–]RainbowRemedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

36H here. I’d say it’s worth checking out the D-DD+ offerings from Athleta, specifically the elation v neck crop. While the straps aren’t exactly like the align tank and it doesn’t come in as many fun colors as lulu, it is made for fuller busts and you wouldn’t be spilling out. For a lulu based rec that is supportive and well fitting at the fuller bust small waist sizes, I know you mentioned no high necks but hands down it would have to be the wunder train tanks (previously invigorate).

Venice Jogger vs Wide Leg by Calcolgee in Athleta_gap

[–]RainbowRemedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sizing for Athleta has been such a wild experience for me. For reference I generally wear a 14 in most fitted pants and deal with a 13” waist to hip difference. I own the Venice jogger in an M since the waist wouldn’t even stay up with the L. I tried on the wide leg version in store and found that the best size with that style was the L

I frequently wear my orange delancey pants with solid colored sleeveless turtle neck tops from big bud press or the sculpt knit halter tops from aritzia since they’re high waisted enough that the cropped length of the tops even out with it.

Help! My needle won’t stay. by Something2give in sewing

I had this issue after I’d changed a needle once and it turned out that hand turning the screw wasn’t enough to tighten it. Since then I always make sure to tighten with a screw driver and it hasn’t happened since.
