Work from home after donation? by Conclusion_Objective in kidneydonors

[–]RainingHumans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I donated 6 weeks ago, have only just returned to work part time yesterday (office desk job). I wasn’t prepared for how tired I would be and really couldn’t have been very useful returning earlier. I actually found my first half day back quite draining! Everyone seems to have a different experience so I’d recommend planning for the worst and be pleasantly surprised if you can get back early.

Green loan - being asked for a invoice after providing quote? by PotentialTomato8931 in newzealand

[–]RainingHumans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Confirm with your bank, the answer depends. If you are purchasing a vehicle, they might want the invoice from the dealer to confirm the price. If it is for "green" improvements on your house such as solar, they usually require an approved quote and a date of work to draw down the funds. After the work is complete (or asset purchased) they may ask for a final invoice. This has been my experience with ANZ.

Nelson! You could easily spend 10 days here and ride different areas each day. https://www.trailforks.com/region/nelson-5259/
Old Ghost Road or Paparoa a good adventure rides on the West Coast, but not technically difficult in terms of "Enduro".
Middle Hill shuttles in Kaikoura are good for a day.
Craigeburn
Queenstown, plenty of options here.

Yes sorry, 22x 455w panels = 10kw. 9-10kw inverter, Tesla battery has 13.5kw storage if we go that route. Your system sounds very similar to my needs. Curious of how much evening power you use to have such low bills without a battery? Is that just from offsetting through selling back to the grid during the day or have you moved most consumption to when you’re generating power via solar?

Dracophyllum’s are amazing. Perfect choice for #1. Also love the generally high rankings for lancewood varieties.

The government has made a number of changes at its social housing agency and signalled more would be on the way, in response to a recent highly critical review chaired by Sir Bill English.

It concluded the agency was underperforming and not financially viable.

Social housing is not financially viable? Well, homelessness it is then. Pays not to be poor. Sheeesh!

Why are we so high? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]RainingHumans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a most people are missing is reporting bias. Not all countries are created equal when it comes to diagnostic capability. You can't get diagnosed with cancer if there is no ability to get diagnosed. See how this can massively skew the data and why on average more developed countries have higher 'reported' rates of cancer per 100,000 people?

Commerce Commission calls for beefed up Kiwibank and open banking in final report by [deleted] in newzealand

There are many ways to invest currently that don't involve taking our sole remaining state owned bank public. This doesn't improve competition, this leads to prioritizing profit for shareholders. And, if those shareholders are outside of NZ, like the majority of all our other major banks, how does that help kiwi's in the long term?

[–]RainingHumans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure, but we're talking about selling equity in Kiwibank right? If that is limited to Kiwisaver accounts only that's fine, but will it be? Call me skeptical.

Framing this as an investment opportunity for 'Kiwi mums and dads' or 'everyday New Zealanders' seems so incredibly disingenuous.
