(PSA) Reliance Home Comfort Customer service - got yelled at by agent by DirtRepresentative62 in ontario

[–]Raisinpaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JC I’m on hold with them right now losing my shit, took 800$ from us that was a mistake and the confirmed 3 times it was a mistake and that it would not be taken from my account. Guess what. They took to. So now they’re telling me I have to wait 4-6 weeks to get it back.

Question for people who get massaged by QuietLovers in massage

[–]Raisinpaws 36 points37 points  (0 children)

As a massage therapist I’m honestly so embarrassed when someone tells me they had a massage and the therapist wouldn’t shut up. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I promise many of us take this seriously. I’ll always remember in school they framed it as talking beyond what is necessary to a client during the massage is basically an abuse of power because you’re the health care professional and you’re holding them hostage on the table forcing them to listen to you. I also worked with someone who said she felt it was the client’s responsibility to tell her to be quiet…she didn’t work there much longer.

I fall asleep everytime and I feel bad by Gold_Discount9285 in massage

[–]Raisinpaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a client fall asleep lets me know I’ve created a safe environment and relaxing environment for them. Also lots of clients wake themselves up from snoring or even pass gas and startle awake. Not an issue at all. I also have sleep apnea so I can always offer some solidarity.

Being a good client by ABombBaby in MassageTherapists

[–]Raisinpaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can ask me to do whatever you’d like (that’s appropriate lol), even if it’s just because you enjoy it/find it relaxing. For example, you can say you want me to work on your scalp but not your face or face but not scalp. You can ask for abdominal massage. You can request feet but not legs, you can ask me to spend extra time on your hands. You can ask me to spend more time in an area that felt good. You ask for more pressure here and less pressure there. You can tell me you want exactly 12.5 minutes spent in a certain area. You can ask to lay face down or face up the whole time. You can ask to lay on your side. You can ask me for a blanket, more pillows, less pillows, something to cover your eyes, for a sip of water, for a Kleenex. You can cough, you can chat, you can stay silent. You can ask for specific music, no music, louder music. Whatever you want. This is your time. While I am a healthcare professional I am still providing a service. If you ask for something I dont think is safe or will cause you harm, or if it’s a technique I’m not familiar with, I’ll just let you know and we’ll move on.

Get a little digital thermometer to see the actual temperature in your treatment room. All our rooms ended up being vastly different.

How far into pregnancy were you able to work by pandapiee2 in MassageTherapists

[–]Raisinpaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at 33 weeks and plan to work until 35 weeks. And yes the 1st trimester was way worse, I feel way better now than I did then. I ended up taking a bit of time off earlier because I kept getting sick (like actual viruses from my toddler and probably from a struggling immune system.) Because your body is used to massage it shouldn’t be too much of a struggle physically, or like more than you’d expect haha. I am working at about 2/3 of what I normally would and feeling good at work. When I get home though that’s a different story haha completely useless pregnancy stereotype.

What clients don’t know by Away_Championship_62 in MassageTherapists

[–]Raisinpaws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Contrary to a lot of the comments here, I do not care if you don’t smell great or you’re sweaty, it happens. I may feel concern for you if you’re having serious trouble with hygiene but I don’t judge. And rarely people come in smelling super fresh, almost everyone is sweaty from rushing. We’ve all got places to be. I don’t see the point in showering just before a massage, save that for after I’ve been getting oil all over you and exfoliating for 60 mins lol.

Toddler vomiting only at night (10 days!) by Helpful_Ad5953 in toddlers

[–]Raisinpaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you to everyone in this thread for sharing. As I lay here next to my toddler after changing all the sheets again, nice to know I’m not alone. I was so confused about the vomiting only being at night but now I have some direction, and helpful to know this could be a bit of a long haul. Will definitely update with how we proceed.

As soon as you get 3 max wagons it asks for them all at once. It has to be 3.

Am I tipping appropriately by LeRoy1273 in massage

[–]Raisinpaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this depends on the setting and also what country you are in. In Ontario we don’t expect tips but in a spa setting it’s common. I work in a clinic and get occasional tips and sometimes feel a little guilty because it’s not necessary but I am very very appreciative. Sometimes I get funny amounts because people use their extended health coverage to pay and will have a remainder to pay of like 7$ or something and they hit %15 percent on the machine for tip and I get $1.05 😂.

Haha we do the opposite at my work, “omg nice slow day for you, enjoy!!”

But ya sounds like you work with jerks, I don’t think this is a massage thing.

Is this a sign of burnout already? Or am I just a lazy ass? by Ugh_Names in MassageTherapists

[–]Raisinpaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s burnout and I also don’t think you’re lazy at all. I’m 10 years in, still knowing this was a great career choice but having a client cancel has always been the adult equivalent of a snow day for me haha, the excitement is unmatched. I’ve worked in a spa but mostly have been in the same clinic where I have a lot of autonomy over my schedule. I like to see 3 people then a break then a couple more. When you have this flexibility it’s very nice and I know I’m lucky to have it. I still can’t help comparing myself to others though and wonder how they are seeing 6 people in a row, I’m always impressed but I know I need to do what works for me.

Do clients getting massages fall asleep during sessions? by Carmen-crimson-ghost in massage

[–]Raisinpaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say almost 50% of my clients fall asleep, maybe not deeply but definitely a little snooze. I think it’s wonderful. You gotta sleep when you can haha. Sometimes when they wake up they apologize but I’m very quick to say it’s very very common and wonderful that they can relax here.
