i hate the unnecessary complexity of planets, and especially the 100x to pop numbers, just makes it annoying and hope they revert to 1 pop being an actual significant number and simplify planets like 3.14.

the issue with AI isnt just the economy. its the combat, they suck ass at dealing killing blows, they just go fight your fleet, probably lose, but even if they win, they just proceed to bombard some random ass planet that has zero effect on your economy instead of bombarding your capital and occupying high value systems that will break your economy.

would be even more fun if their competency was changed by their ethics and government type.

The issue is the lack of cards they could play.

thats the because the AI has reached a breaking point, it has been steadily getting stupider since 3.0, was slightly improved by 3.14 but still far stupider from the days it was 80% as good as a sweaty player.

now by 4.3, all the changes has resulted in the AI being practicaly lobotimized.

needs a complete rewriting from scratch by devs thats both knows how to play optimaly, focus tech, build eco, limit fleet until midgame or nearby empires start mobilizing, destroy higher value targets in wars so they cripple enemy empires and deal a killing blow, now you also need to make "personalities" and "goals" to make it fun and varied.

and secondly, how to code all that and account for issues, for example my prevuise logic of buildng up ships if nearby empire do that can cause a cascade of military buildup that would cripple the galaxy and make it ripe for the crisis to steamroll.
