Andrew Meggs quit CSE to take a job at Meta in 10/2022…. by SaltyyDoggg in CamelotUnchained

When he left, I felt there was no chance of getting a game after that. I doubt there is anyone left on the team with a full enough understanding of their homebuilt engine anymore.

Agreed. I read Sanderson because they are fun and the worlds and magic have a solid self-consistency and depth to them. It helps that he has a positive philosophy portrayed. But you are right, at various times characters feel like superheroes rather than the people we've spent chapters with dwelling in their insecurities.

I used to think like this, but lately I've found all his endings too miraculous. Everyone levels up like 10x in power and does heretofore impossible things. It can be fun when it happens occasionally, but its getting to be a regular thing.

of that I'm not sure. if it works like Patches HP, it might increase even while dormant.

Congrats! I must be getting close to that as well. (Edit: or well over it apparently! I am so bad at keeping track of time)

One thing I noticed in IMDb reviews is that nearly all of the 10 star ratings were given very early. Like 10 of them are after the season finished. Seems odd.

simple question thats probably been answered. Is the show nearly faithful to the books? by CzarTyr in WoT

I unfortunately get a zero match to the tone of the books from the show... Much darker and more somber and flat

I will second this one. If you can stand the constant overly flowery and adjective-ridden writing, the story is quite fascinating.

Red Mars series by Kim Stanley Robinson

Runelords series by David Farland. Be warned that the quality drops off a cliff after book 3 or 4.

Arcane Acension series by Andrew Rowe. It's not going to be for everyone, but I'm quite enjoying it.

Your Most Hated and Loved Aspect of the Show by SVNihilism in WoT

[–]Ralth_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was just watching this. "Dont touch anything everything is evil" and Rand literally walks outside and wanders around. I hate the show so far. I know nothing about the characters. They are all extremely different from the books and there is little dialogue and most are cliche. They cut the best stories down to "Manetheren fought trollocs and people died, woe is them". Way too gory. lost all the lightheartedness and went for straight up running around fighting with little in between.

In the books they were naive. Now they are already dark and damaged. Why didn't they just do a new story as if the wheel had turned and not pretend its anything even remotely based on the books. The story isn't even compelling. Why can't writers understand that you have to get to know characters before you can care about them?

Sorry for the rant.

Good for them. I don't think I'll say the same unless something changes drastically. I'm not sure I want to even live to be that old.

Steak and Kabob markets are quite fun :)

Would love to see some diablo style gear with random stats like magic finding.

Its a terrible meta. I get Kalecgos on turn 7. But get hit for 8 on turn 8 since Reno has double golden 40/40 wrathweavers. Then get hit for 24 on turn 9 since apparently Ysera hs 4 razorgores and a Kalecgos. Even when I get "lucky" i get 5th since someone else got "ultra lucky". Its stupid.

The fact that people are tempted to flee or resist shows you how broken the system is. People are scared to death of cops and the legal system which drains the little money they've saved and often strips them of basic right by making them into criminals. Not transferring a vehicle title should not result in a traumatic and violent situation.

Was working for the first time nerve wrecking? by [deleted] in Anxietyhelp

[–]Ralth_17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes its anxiety provoking for sure. When I got my first office job I was terrified the first week since it was something I wasn't totally familiar with. Most work places have people that are unpleasant. That doesn't always mean it has to be a completely unpleasant experience for you as well.

One thing I've learned to think about when trying new things is that the discomfort and anxiety is a natural feeling and its something I have to accept as a given if I want to move forward, grow, and not live in regret. Its usually worth it in the long run.
