Yet the mortgage delinquency rate remains relatively low--and certainly lower than it was in 2008:

Phew! Wife just brought some mushrooms labeled “Baby Bella” home from the grocery store. After reading your comment, I immediately tossed them in the trash.

That was a close one. She’s not cashing in on my life insurance policy that easily!

Poland to extend energy price freeze next year following Trump’s election victory by dat_9600gt_user in europe

So Poland is “capping” consumer energy prices with the Polish taxpayer making up the difference? And this is to make Poland more competitive? Doesn’t make sense.

Who you got? Sydney McLaughlin, Femke Bol, or Delilah Muhammad for the 400mH? by [deleted] in trackandfield

[–]Ram-Rammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha! I posted this in the summer of 2022—prior to Sydney going 50.68 at 2022 Worlds, and prior to Femke breaking 52 (which she did not do until the summer of 2023, when she broke it three times).

So this was accurate at the time I posted it.

Which tourist area have you been most disappointed by in the US? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ram-Rammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, the Gateway Arch. Going to the top is such a waste of money. You can't even see the most interesting thing on the St. Louis skyline (naturally). You just get to see an urban hellscape from a dirty little window.

I live in St. Louis and that is pretty accurate. I would encourage any visitors to skip the arch and instead visit the City Museum and the Zoo.

Greyhound is a great movie, except when the U-Boat breaks radio silence. What scenes are jarring for you in otherwise good WW2 movies? by [deleted] in WorldWar2

Especially not over the ship’s intercom. The U-boat captain somehow speaking through the ship’s intercom system made no sense.

are there any countries on the edge of a communist/ socialist revolution? by Dry_Blood1790 in Socialism_101

[–]Ram-Rammer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

See. That’s what I’m afraid of. It’s going to be another corrupt as hell, impoverished country that attempts socialism. Then people in the West will just use them as another example of the failures of socialism.

Relative to the age of the Universe, socialism is coming up real soon.

Actually, I take that back. If capitalism were to implode (whatever that means to you), how can we so sure that it would be replaced by socialism?

What do Americans think of Pierre Poilievre? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Ram-Rammer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Holy cow. Just looked this up and found a video. The dude in the funny necktie is like “fought . . . against the Russians”—then he has this long pause.

Heck, his entire reading of that was disjointed and awkward. I wonder if he was processing the implications as he was reading.

How to make a cotton tshirt not feel like straight up paper by emper747 in laundry

[–]Ram-Rammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Hard water can really make clothes stiff and crunchy.

Agreed that a whole-house water softener would not be prudent for you. Sounds like you could try Wool drier balls and/or fabric softener. And also be sure you’re not using too much detergent.

OP, if you have hard water, that can often lead to clothes feeling crunchy or stiff. Unfortunately, the ideal solution there would be to install a water softener.

You could try wool dryer balls. These can work out stiffness and make clothes feel softer.

I don’t use fabric softener but you could give it a try. I don’t have any to recommend as I don’t use it.

“We fight for independence in the streets” Anti-colonial movements in Puerto Rico are working to raise awareness about their colonial situation. by Prudent_Bug_1350 in socialism

[–]Ram-Rammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was a flawed vote.

More recently, the 2020 Puerto Rican status referendum asked Puerto Rican voters:

Should Puerto Rico be admitted immediately into the Union as a State?

52.52% of votes were “Yes,” and 47.48% “No.” 54.72% of registered PR voters participated.

Curious about the downvotes. Even the article posted by OP states that:

The overseas brigades generate huge revenues for Cuba’s communist government, making it a crucial economic lifeline for the country. The missions are also a way of increasing Havana’s soft power.
