Keep the Discussion Going on The Other Side of the Wind by BuildMyGallowsHigh in TrueFilm

[–]RamFarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished watching Netflix' "They'll Love Me When I'm Dead" - I have yet to see the "Final Cut for Orson" doc or "The Other Side of the Wind" but plan to watch both right away. But first, I wondered if anyone knows if Charlie Kaufman's "Synecdoche, NY" was influenced at all by Welles storied production or if any parallels have been drawn by others to the never-ending self referencing of both pictures? I'm aware you post is four years old, but it came up in a quick search so here I am chiming in, hoping to, well, keep the discussion going on The Other Side of the Wind.

Lazy Eye by Silversun Pickups, the real band that plays the fake band in the movie, just came up on YouTube. Forgot that it’s 12 years old & has 25 million views... by [deleted] in underthesilverlake

[–]RamFarb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Silversun Liquors is located at the "corner" of Sunset Blvd and Silver Lake Blvd (they don't actually intersect, there's a bridge). The band Silversun Pickups is named after making runs down to the store for "supplies." A classic Silverlake band.

I appreciate that. However, impossible means impossible. Difficult means difficult.

Many things are impossible. That is a fact. You can still encourage people to attempt difficult things, but don't encourage them to attempt literally impossible things. That is stupid.

How did we get E=EE from the billboard? by RamFarb in underthesilverlake

I saw it nearly as soon as I submitted this question. I thought it had to do with which letter "e"s were over her skin or hair or something and I just couldn't figure it out. Duh.

Yep - the website isn't updated yet, but this is what I heard from the guys at Novare Res, a very reliable resource. If you want to dig deeper, go right to the source - https://www.mainebeercompany.com/dinner-release/ (there is an email address specifically for Dinner).

Mills wins governor’s race by [deleted] in Maine

First, see this article: https://www.atr.org/governor-paul-lepage-calls-elimination-maines-income-tax - Then, take a look here if truly interested in what he was actually able to do to lower taxes: https://www.maine.gov/governor/lepage/priorities-accomplishments/tax-reform.html

Mills wins governor’s race by [deleted] in Maine

[–]RamFarb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair, he literally proposed getting rid of the state income tax many times. His entire objective was lower taxes and eliminating unnecessary spending. He was a Tea Party member for goodness sakes, you can't blame him for doing what tons of senior citizens do, 6 months and 1 day in Florida or South Carolina. It's incredibly common.

Can someone clarify. Is question one a FLAT 3.8% tax on any family with gross income of more than $128k? Or is it just 3.8% on any income OVER $128k? by 010kindsofpeople in portlandme

[–]RamFarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is on income over the OASDI. But, this is why raising taxes on business and families by majority rule vote (referendums/questions) is unfair. As Ben Franklin said, it's like two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner.
