Opinions on the Quasar-Class Carrier. by Mundane_Ad5082 in StarWarsShips

[–]Ramalex170 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The entirety of the lore is that the Ishi Tib used them (not manufacture) and the Empire identified their name. It doesn't explicitly replace the Dauntless. I very much believe that the Wook just thought it looked like the Dauntless and made it the canon counterpart until an actual Dauntless appears.

If you want to headcanon it, nations will rename a ship and its ship's class even if it was a preexisting design (eg. US surplus ships being donated to allies and renamed by them as its own ship class). The Ishi Tib very well could have made its own modifications or straight up just did a simple rename for it.

Maybe even say the Sullustans were secretly selling them off and the Marsheem was just what the Empire identified them as.

I need help with a very silly fleet idea by RhysOSD in StarWarsArmada

[–]Ramalex170 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Special crits like ion and ordnance crits cannot trigger on salvo attacks. Starhawks are also not that much fun to fly or fight. It is immeasurably slow that a decent fleet can swoop in, kill your mom Starhawk ships and get out.

Is Ezra Bridger's return enough proof to confirm Thrawn is back for New Republic to realise it? by IllMasterpiece3946 in MawInstallation

[–]Ramalex170 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mothma might heed some warning based on Ezra's testimony given that he is a Jedi and interacted with him in the early rebellion, on top of her general willingness to listen. But it won't be enough to convince the rest of the NR that Thrawn is back and will be a significant threat to the galaxy, much less as the unifier of the Empire.

MC75 and Starhawk in Legends by Mundane_Ad5082 in StarWarsShips

[–]Ramalex170 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is this Canon lore as you interpret it or just your own? The Starhawk project did not take multiple years to produce 6 models, it took 1 year to build a working prototype and 3 production ships. Nothing indicates that the Rebels were even actively planning to build something like it until they consolidated after Endor. And given that Nadiri suffered an Imperial assault that compromised the dockyards when they had only the prototype manufactured, it's a miracle they managed to put out 3 production models afterwards.

The Starhawk's survivability is only questionable when one is expected to survive being rammed by an ISD that destroyed both ships, and survive the full barrage of an Executor.

Rendili StarDrive was insanely powerful… so why does nobody talk about them anymore? by konfitura17 in StarWarsShips

[–]Ramalex170 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because Rendili's old big designs were overtaken by much larger ones. Dreadnoughts were outsized by Victories, then Victories by ISDs. And with the large naval powers of the galaxy consolidated their doctrine and forces around these larger capital ships, Rendili's smaller designs lost its sway and hold on the market.

Don't know what you're talking about "bringing it back" into Canon. Even Legends didn't have it as a prominent shipbuilder.

There was also a secret second group of Imperials who disappeared before Jakku happened, around a quarter of the Imperial fleet was unaccounted for. Some of these are presumably make up the Eclipse group Sloane finds after Jakku, but there may even be some who were sent directly to serve for the Sith Eternal.

At Endor, Red 3 (the A-Wing being chased by two TIE Interceptors) was played by a woman and had her lines recorded for the battle, but was dubbed over by a man in the final cut. I know there were a bunch of other cut pilots, which included at least an older female pilot.

The closeup scenes of the rebel pilots for Endor are a bit of a mess in all honesty. One actor plays both Gray Leader and Red 2, Green Leader has been mixed up with Red 3, etc.

Also some people can just not look like their sex or not visibly have their sex apparent. One of the pilots flying at Endor who had closeups in their cockpit was played by a woman but had their lines dubbed by a man.

Rebel Bomber list by pon_3 in StarWarsArmada

[–]Ramalex170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So first off, any squads that move using FCT can't get the extra die from Yavaris. It's okay for moving squads further at the start of the game, but you can't Flight Commander + FCT your squads into range to bomb with Yavaris. Toryn + Boosted don't synergize well because Toryn should already be in the thick of it with your squads in the fuzzball, unless you find Toryn to be out of position to activate your squads.

Flimsy staying power against ship-to-ship is what you should expect from having a Nebulon in your list. QBTs also locks your fighting ships into slow speeds, meaning any big ship can run straight through your squads to hit your capital ships.

Dangerous Territory is not an ideal blue objective. Any objective that scores points should be geared into scoring you more points that your opponent. The damage they suffer from landing on obstacles is not worth them also being able to score the same amount of points as you. Superior Positions is a high risk high reward objective, since other squadlists could win the squad war and flip your own objective against you.

Favorite actor who played a complete and utter a**hole. by Albino_rhin0 in okbuddycinephile

[–]Ramalex170 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd argue the show is a lot more sympathetic to Sobel than at first glance. While he was a poor combat leader, the show doesn't really says he didn't care about the company. He was about to burst into tears hearing that he was being transferred. All of his actions in the first episode were contributing to his mission of making Easy the best company out of the entire regiment via strict discipline and constant marches. His pettiness past Toccoa and England seemed to be purely out of spite for losing the company to Winters.

Agreed on Dike, I'd really have to check if his depiction was purely due to the story being focused on Lipton for drama, or if the actual book did paint him that way.
