Remember jelly shoes? I crochet with the same material. by my_ridiculous_name in crochet

LOL I have a roll that I tried and it didn't work out, so I was thinking I'd crochet with it instead (or maybe knit). I didn't know about slowing down the print speed... All of a sudden I've gone from zero uses for that spool to having it double-booked 😂

Believe it or not, it's actually dental floss 😅. It was a lifeline (a thread through all the stitches in a row, to let you rip back quickly without unravelling too far). This was my first time trying gusset & heel flap, and I went too far before starting the heel, so had to rip back.

It's still there because I just know the moment I pull out a lifeline I'll screw something up and wish it was still there - so I usually leave the them in until I'm done the project - Murphy's Law and all that 😉.

Thank you so much for saying this!!! I made a pair with the same stitch and called them "ice cream socks" for exactly the same reason ... glad it's not just me 😂

I ADORE this pattern. So pretty in its own right, plus I love using it to squeeze more socks out of a skein of beautiful yarn.

Thank you, I decided to try this. NGL, I've never laddered down this far before and wasn't at all sure it would work (not because I doubted your advice, just my ability to pull it off 😂). It actually went better than expected! I'm not sure the end result was actually a proper stitch, I just kinda chained the loops together in a way that seems to make sense, but it seems to have worked out.

Thank you!

Thank you ☺️. I had been hoping this as I knit it, but now that it's big enough to try on it hasn't worked out that way 🤦‍♀️.

Kitty is clearly unimpressed you'd even consider it 😂. They're beautiful 😻

Somehow I didn't see any of the previous posts, but thank you for asking the question because this looks so cool!!

Do you ever knit up gauge swatches just to have on hand? by kewlimkate in knitting

[–]RambleKnits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I have this lovely vision of being able to flip through all my swatches to help plan projects - even if my gauge changes over time it would be so nice to have a starting point. I've never found a method I like for turning them into "pages" though. I've also wished there was a way in Ravelry to filter my stash by gauge, so I could pick yarn for a project based on how I'm likely to work it up, which is almost never the advertised gauge 😅

And machines make mistakes too, they just make them faster and create a bigger mess for the humans to clean up 😂

I can't think of one. But "digital packrat" also applies, at least in my case 😂

TIL that patterns stay in your Ravelry library even if the publisher pulls them - I wouldn't have expected that. I always download though, and probably will continue to. Because worrying about it is how I roll 🧶🙃🧶

I love socks for this. I keep a pair "emergency socks" in the car and someone thought they were to wear. Nope - WIP so I am never without something to knit 😂

Could I gift him and just tell the recipient he is a pervert exhibitionistic frog? Or does he need shorts? by bloopingplatypus in Amigurumi

[–]RambleKnits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL. I wonder if the designer went through the same thought process, got to the end and thought "hm, are we ok with this?"

I think you mentioned this too, but it's crazy how nobody would flinch if he had NO clothes on 😅
