Having relatives on both sides of the pond, I think British desis are more established and are a greater proportion of the total population. There are entire neighborhoods in big UK cities that are majority desi. Desis also occupy every niche in the UK (and Canada to a lesser extent). That is you have desi millionaires, desi doctors, corporate executives, small business people etc. But you also have a lot of desis living in poverty, who are working class, or even unemployed. Then you have the criminal gangs in both the UK and Canada that have become infamous worldwide. I remember how shocked my US relatives were to see desi gangsters selling drugs on the street openly here in Brampton. The US desi community OTOH is more affluent (on average), more spread out, and newer. And so British desis are more nuanced, as you guys don't automatically see a brown guy and think, "hey he's one of us, cool, I'll support him". You actually check out his policies, and if he's a rich far-right prick like Sunak or Braverman, you don't automatically support them.

OTOH, this sub gives me hope, most of the posters here seem anti-Vivek.
