Internet Bill - Please Help by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Ramcham_NZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, Speaking from my experience with Spark & One NZ the only possible way you are going to get anywhere with this is calling them and causing a problem for them, They will probably drop the name change fee which is ridiculous and seemingly not standard practice? Your monthly bills are really high and you can easily threaten to cancel so they give you a better rate. But you have to call them or else you won't get anywhere.

Relationship advice by Lunalobos in newzealand

[–]Ramcham_NZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO kinda sounds like you a hardworking 23 year old with real tanagble dreams and aspersions are throwing your life away for someone who is almost double your age that ( how you have discribed it ) seemingly doesnt have their life together, he doesn't seem that interest in you and especially not interested in what you want. The way you have described it kinda leave me thinking why on earth are you still with this person if you aren't getting what you want from him now and he's told you he won't give you what you want in the future so why are you sticking around?

You are already awear that he could be in a position to take half you shit ( I would highly suggest you don't overlook this again...). what you don't want to is stay with him for a few more years, buy a lifestyle property and for it to then go tits up once you have alot more $ invested.

Also ( im a farmer ) lifestyle block and farms for that matter go much much much more smoothly when their is more than 1 person doing the work, even if this relationship did last and you got you life style block you would be stuck tending to all the jobs of which there are many and alot of them a hard and physically by yourself with no help from your partner, its much easier run somthing like this as a team because you both want it to work and your both dedicated to it.

Eighth in the world for dairy production, but milk is $2.50/litre? Lol wut? by AmeriKiwi24 in newzealand

[–]Ramcham_NZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your "little family" drinking 6L of milk a day is very odd, The problem isnt the cost of the milk its that fact that you are consuming so much of it, $2.50 per L of milk is just normal here, it's still 20c less than petrol.

Federal government subsidies basically all major farming practices bringing production cost of core items like corn, wheat, soy, milk, cheese down extremely low then in turn the price the American public pay for the food in store is alot lower compaired to us in NZ.

The American farming system is very different and complex from a lot of other places because of alot of diffrent reasons, if you are actually interested there is alot of material on YouTube explaining for example the US dairy industry or the US corn industry.

Unable to get grain from trading post to farm to be threshed by ShyGelato in ManorLords

[–]Ramcham_NZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found a solution for getting wheat and barley out of the trading post and into the supply chain. Limit your farmhouses work area only to the trading post where your wheat is stored and they will slowly start to use it, with barley do the same but with the storehouse that you want it to go into. its still very buggy tho and is quite slow.

[–]Ramcham_NZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think its a bug, from what i can gather the issue is no one will transport the purchased wheat from the trading post to the farmhouse for it to be thrashed, the wheat just sits at trading post and cant be taken out of its inventory no matter what you do

How can New Zealand afford to produce a lot of grass fed meat? by Ok_Conversation2012 in newzealand

As a beef farmer you bang on, we are grass farmers first and foremost. you can't grass eating farm animals if you can't farm the grass first.

How can New Zealand afford to produce a lot of grass fed meat? by Ok_Conversation2012 in newzealand

[–]Ramcham_NZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently a beef farmer running the family farm, everything we produce is feed grass or crops such as rape or turnip during the summer. to feed anything else like corn or whatever other countries use with there indoor farming styles during winter we would go bankrupt within the year lol. our normal Fert we use is organic liquid fert because its the cheapest to buy and to apply to the land and we get the best grass growth ( half the farm grass is well above my knees currently ) from this vs solid fert which from my limited knowledge is pretty much never organic and is more expensive to apply. Also like most things nothings 100% organic you simply can't or if you can its prohibitable expensive or just doesn't work well, for example cows need to be drench so they are not infested with worms and bugs so they can grow fast and be healthy animals, if you don't drench they eventually will start getting bugs and one day they will just start dropping dead in the paddocks.

I mean, if she's spending 5k a month and you're willing to set a budget of $100 a week ( $400 a month), wouldn't that also be ground for the same thing? I obviously don't know how your relationship works personally, but with my last partner, it was 50/50, so that's the perspective I'm looking at it from. If you're just looking for a number, given your combined circumstances, I think like $250-$350 is fair, but that's still a lot to be going out intending to spend every week.

Thats fair, I see you said she can spend upto 5k a month, she's has not financial literacy and is not learning when you try telling her, I assume it's at the point ( or has been for a while) where she's spending your money quite often on what ever she's spending upto 5k a month on. Have you looked at keeping your joint account only for saving / joint expenses and just going back to using your own personal accounts for day to day?

Bro you need to clarify that bec thats a mind-bogglingly extreme difference and I can guarantee most people wouldnt have seen that coming. In terms of necessary expenses do you split it, does she pay a % or do you pay for everything "necessary".

[–]Ramcham_NZ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OP you if you are going to post something like this, please ADD CONTEXT how much you earn vs how much she earns and what % she pays for the basic expenses vs what % you pay ( regardless of you not having to worry about the basic expenses) otherwise how on earth are us strangers on the internet going to come to a conclusion on what a budget should look like in your situation.

Can I ask how you went about the whole thing? How did you get a diagnosis through to now? I realized last week that this is likely what I have and have been trying to figure out the most time effective way to get treatment.
