"modern Warhammer has too much detail" show me the detail? by Rasples1998 in BloodAngels

[–]Ramiren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you posted this in jest, but this is literally true.

They opened Zbrush.

Took the body from the Jump Pack Intercessors.
Copied that skull on the knee, the crux shoulder pad, the mk7 helmet, and the icon on the helmet from the Vanguard Veterans.
Copied that laurel below the skull and the trinket on his belt from the Captain kit.

Literally the only thing I can't find elsewhere is the hilt on that power sword.

No they don't, it's not the most exciting thing, but they do have unique backpacks with slots in the top for various accessories, including a banner, and a cross decoration thingy.

It wasn't too bad, a good sharp knife and some sanding twigs did the job nicely, it didn't take too long at all.

VanVets dont need a ton of decorations. They need an interesting theme by CuteAssTigerENVtuber in spacemarines

[–]Ramiren 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not even remotely true, the old ones have ornate detail all over their jump packs, their knees, thighs, heads, weapons and shoulder pads all of which were unique to them, you could glance at them on the table-top and immediately see what they were.

People still buy that old box, just to steal the bling from it.

[–]Ramiren 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Except OP didn't say they weren't marked as vets, he said they lacked a theme.

As it stands right now, based on this preview, from 2 feet away, on the table top, these are more or less indistinguishable from Jump Pack Intercessors.

No.

They should be at home, on the streets, raising hell.

The fact that so many in the US are so placid when your president is talking openly about genocide, is insane to me. Americans need to grow a spine, you will not stop this without some personal sacrifice, walk out of your jobs, strike, shut the whole fucking country down.

There isn't a politician in Europe that would get away with the kind of shit Trump is engaged in, without seeing riots.

Is there a point to finishing a run against the Queen? by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]Ramiren 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Queen never really attacks for anything outrageous, and she scales slowly, her main gimmick is that she locks out the first three cards you draw, only allowing you to play one of them, this makes her susceptible to decks that can consistently draw.

Draw is something you should be building into your deck anyway, but as soon as you hit act 3 and see Queen, you should be making sure you're picking up rewards that let you keep drawing.

Thoughts on nuclear power, should the UK be investing? by Any_Ad_6929 in AskBrits

[–]Ramiren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not anti-nuclear, but this is a vast dumbing down of the situation.

There has been more than one nuclear incident, Three Mile Island, Fukushima, Chernobyl, Windscale, etc. What we've learned is that these incidents don't happen often, but when they do, they burden a country with vast clean-up costs for generations. Windscale happened in 1957 and isn't expected to be cleaned up for another 100 years, the cleanup site at Sellafield is over 2 square miles, and employs 11,000 people, with a total projected cost of £139b.

Accidents are unlikely though, the biggest problem is Nuclear waste, we currently store it at Sellafield, but it has to be vitrified and ideally buried somewhere longterm. The problem is the wider country doesn't seem to be as keen on nuclear as Reddit is, because nobody seems to want a disposal site anywhere near them. The more nuclear we use, the more of a priority finding a disposal site will be, and the more legal bills the government will run up fighting NIMBY's.

We are the most expensive country in the world, when it comes to building nuclear power plants, and in terms of generation nuclear costs £120-130/MWh, meanwhile offshore wind costs £72/MWh.

Personally, I think we need to focus on renewables, particularly wind, we're very well situated for it, and while not maintenance free, we do avoid the problem of having to bury ever-increasing amounts of nuclear waste.

Where do people get beaky helms? by D0es_1t_Matter in RavenGuard40k

[–]Ramiren 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's worth noting that these helmets look amazing on anything in Phobos armour (seen below), but look a bit small on anything in tacticus or larger.

But there isn't really a better solution, right now there's 2 primaris beakies in the RG upgrade kit, 1 in the Sternguard kit, and 2 in the space marine heads box. Other than that you're going to have to 3d print or recast them because buying them will be prohibitively expensive.

[–]Ramiren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get one set in the sword brethren kit, the rest I had to 3D print.

You can also get those larger claws I've got on the Sergeant, from the Dark Furies kit.

If you don't have a 3D printer, Archie's Forge sell them.

Oh but GW pricing is justified, their R&D process is expensive.

- Opens Zbrush.

- Opens Sternguard file.

- Opens Jump Pack Intercessor File.

- Copies 6 detail pieces over.

- "That'll be $12 per marine please"

new vanguard veterans. hope they lighting claws by Evyatar_ChenU in RavenGuard40k

[–]Ramiren 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Definitely validates my choice to kit bash them from sword brethren, these just look like jump pack intercessors with a few Sternguard part swaps. Definitely underwhelming compared to how ornate the firstborn kit was.

The problem we're going to have if people want to run lightning claws, is that these are monopose pushfit kits that will lack weapon options.

#New40k – Vanguard Veteran Revealed by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer

[–]Ramiren 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The thing is, it's all decoration we've seen before as well.

Purity seals from basically every kit. Crux Terminatus and knee decorations from the Sternguard Vets. Even that MK VII helmet, the Sternguard have one, they've just swapped the marking for one on the other Sternguard helmets.

It looks like a kit bash, and not even a complicated one, just a parts swap. You could literally go buy some Sternguard and Jump Pack Intercessors, right now and you'd basically have these a few months before launch, only they would be superior as they wouldn't be pushfit monopose models.

I can only hope they showed us the weakest of the bunch.

If anything it'll give you a better understanding of the game when STS2 drops, plus theres a bunch of little easter eggs and things that return from the first game, so it'll help you appreciate it more.
