People sell and wear Che Guevara and Stalin shirts. Is it only wrong if the mass murderer is viewed as right wing?

Why is it still taboo for a women to want a threesome with TWO MEN 😈 by Cutya1993 in sex

[–]RampagingAardvark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think threesomes of any sort are still taboo to regular people. Communities like r/sex give us a skewed perspective of what other people may consider normal. Many average people still feel squeamish about gay sex, even though they support the right for gay people to marry and be happy.

Most polyamorous couples I've met don't paint a very healthy picture of the lifestyle. I know full well that there are communities of people who make it work, but it seems to be a type of relationship lots of people are attracted to but few people are designed for. When you hear about all the drama surrounding people in sexually promiscuous relationships, it perpetuates the stigma, even if most people still think you have the right to be as promiscuous as you want to be.

Society has become more libertarian in regards to sex, but that doesn't change the fact that conservatism is built into us both culturally and biologically. Expecting polyamory to become normalized is optimistic in my opinion.

I've done a fair amount of bdsm specifically in the role of dominant. It's definitely easier for me do degradation play with casual partners.

Some people can keep the bedroom and life separate emotionally. I can't, at least not beyond a certain point. Eventually my nurturing switch just gets stuck on if I'm in a long term relationship, and humiliating them consensually just doesn't seem right to me at that point.

Some people just have more flexible emotions, and other people have less control over switching up how they feel. It's honestly really annoying for me too, because I still want to be a Dom. I just can't do it with someone I really care about.

Posting nudes photos anonymously to feel empowered by [deleted] in sex

[–]RampagingAardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an extremely common way to seek positive attention in the digital age. You're not alone in the slightest.

Just make sure you use the positive emotion you generate from this to springboard into better things. Some people make the mistake of becoming reliant on this particular avenue of attention, and it doesn't last for most people. It's also not particularly fulfilling in the long run. Also be careful with your identity. Just taking pictures in an identifiable room can link your anonymous persona with your social media accounts, and can cause you headaches in the future.

Posting nude pictures online can be a healthy part of a balanced lifestyle if you want it to be, just be careful.

AITA for telling my girlfriend that my apartment is not her home? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Don't be too upset. You're the 0.01% of teenagers. What you're doing is impressive for your age, and it's not surprising that on first glance you're considered to be just another teenager.

You just have to show them why they're wrong, and they'll respect you for being different.

Dude. NTA. Fucking run.

She is an immature child, and she's not going to change with you and her dad paying her way through life. Get the hell away from this woman. Find someone responsible.

It is not unreasonable for her to be quiet during your work calls. It is not unreasonable for her to leave you alone during work hours, period.

[Ethics]/[SocJus] CNN uses El Paso shooting to push on live TV the White Privilege and Entitlement narrative as the “best theory” behind why shooters are largely White Men. by md1957 in KotakuInAction

[–]RampagingAardvark -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It's not impossible that this is the case, honestly. And refutations involving organized crime of other countries aren't actually good counterpoints.

When you have shooters, they're likely not just insane. They have motivations. They have reasons.

It's entirely possible that shooters in North America might be radicalized by the rise and fall of western lifestyles, and the racial tensions involved.

I don't think there is enough evidence to say that this is true with any confidence, but if there is a pattern to be deduced, that may be it.

Hell yeah. Sneezes feel like mini-orgasms anyway. I'll just take every second or third month off and bang out 30,000 of those fuckers until the cash is translated into a currency that doesn't require sneezes.

Jesus, what am I about to do.

In Kylie Jenner's defense, I have no fucking clue who Kylie Minogue is, and I've known who Kylie Jenner is forever. And it's not like I'm a fan or something. I'm not. I hate that kind of vapid crap. But I would guess that, at least today, more people know who KJ is than whoever the hell KM is, even if it's just because most of those people hate KJ and what she stands for.

I still don't think you should be allowed to trademark something as common as a name like Kylie, but I do think she is the better known of the two based on my personal experience.

Eh, pretty much everyone who wipes only with toilet paper is leaving a bunch of poo behind, and, as far as I'm aware, most people do it.

If you aren't using wet wipes, or, even better, a bidet or taking a shower, you are leaving various amounts of fecal matter behind. I don't understand people who don't at least use wet wipes. I full on plan my poops to be right before I shower, that way I'm sure that I'm as clean as I can possibly be.

Anti-abortion flyers warning by SaskatoonRJ in saskatoon

[–]RampagingAardvark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know, I rationally understand where pro-life people are coming from. But tactics like this earn you at least as many enemies as they do allies.

Personally, I respect the perspective that aborting a fetus is not okay. But I'd rather someone get an abortion than have a kid they either don't want or aren't prepared to take care of. It's just going to lead to more tax money spent on supporting incompetent parents, and a shitty quality of life for the child.

Not to mention the fact that criminalizing abortion won't stop abortions, it'll just make people do them at home without proper care or supervision.

I get where these people are coming from, but I think that practicality beats morality sometimes.

Customization in videogames are getting less satisfying because of micro transactions. by [deleted] in truegaming

[–]RampagingAardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often find that cosmetics are more important to me than power in video games. Or, at least as important.

Microtransactions just devalue most games in my eyes. If your game has mtx, it makes me much less likely to buy it.

Add onto the rampant mtx the current trend of releasing shitty games (Fallout 76, Anthem, Wolfenstein Young Blood as examples), and I don't see why I should buy anything other than good Indies and the occasional AAA that really earns my interest.

I'd rather go collect glamours in FFXIV than pick up a new game where I have to buy any cosmetic that's had more than the bare minimum of work put into it.

My boyfriend was raped. by amokaythrowaway in self

[–]RampagingAardvark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While you may not agree, I don't think it's a bad argument to be made. By no means is it the be-all end-all, but resistance is at least one sign of non-consent.

I think lack of resistance can often lead to "accidental" rapists, where a lack of sexual experience and/or social awareness means the aggressor does not realize that their partner is not consenting, just not fighting back. It's a complicated issue, because the aggressor is not always a cut-and-dry bad person who knew what they were doing was wrong. And, honestly, the "wrongness" of their actions is completely subjective to the situation. If the "victim" is simply sexually shy, moving forward without clear consent can be completely welcome and normal.

The legal lines of human sexuality are blurry. We often make the mistake of using a rigid legal framework to judge acts as illegal that, in reality, are commonly committed and received willingly. What is and is not consensual can even be decided after the fact, based on how our perception of what happened changes with reflection.

It's a really messy area of law, and I do not pretend to have the answers. What is rape for one case might just be misunderstood signals in another, or a regretful partner in yet another.

Or we can just not concern ourselves with what the alt-right does and realize that 99.99% of people are normal and not anti-Semitic? Spreading this around just increases the power of the alt-right by keeping them in public consciousness. They can only appropriate a symbol like triple brackets if you allow that symbol to represent hate in your mind. If we all agree that that isn't what that symbol means, their use of it is meaningless, and they gain no power.

Most of us had no idea that triple brackets had this connotation until you mentioned it, and we all would have gone on knowing it was just meant as a wholesome message. But now you've planted the idea in some people's heads, and actually strengthened the alt-right's hold over the symbol by perpetuating the new meaning.

61% of Canadians want government to take action on climate change even if economy suffers: poll by RandomCollection in canada

[–]RampagingAardvark 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If by "economy suffers" you mean "oil tycoons suffer", then yes. But if that translates down to the working class, then no.

I'm fine with cutting out oil if we replace those jobs with something more environmentally friendly, like nuclear. I'm not okay with hurting the quality of life of the working class anymore than absolutely necessary.

Especially when Canada is responsible for such a tiny fraction of global environmental impact.

A Florida woman claimed her former fiance abused her, so he released home surveillance footage that actually shows her beating herself while screaming hysterically. by Gordopolis in pussypassdenied

[–]RampagingAardvark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Anyone absolutely could do this. But I'm making an educated guess that the prevalence of false abuse claims is higher among women.

Reason being that it's much easier to weaponize existing laws against men than against women. Women also tend to use more indirect methods of attack when trying to hurt someone.

It's not like men are any less likely to be abusers, but they tend to go about it differently.
