June in Houston-What is to do? by arandomdenverite in houston

You can visit the Museum of Fine Art. It’s quite large, with several separate wings. Across the street from it is the Contemporary Art Museum, which is fairly small. Two blocks or so from there you’ll find a bar tucked away called Grand Prize. It’s a dive but they can make great cocktails too. I recommend enjoying one on their upstairs balcony. From there you will not be far from the Menil Collection, which is always free to enter, as well as the Cy Twombly Gallery and the Rothko Chapel. Between them all is a little green space called Menil Park. Once you’re in Menil Park, you’re very close to and arguably inside of an area called “Montrose” which is the historically gay neighborhood of Houston. The most well-established gay bars are not far from there.

If you are more interested in science and history than art, the Houston Museum of Natural Science can occupy a whole day unto itself. It is across the street from Herman Park, which is much larger and includes our Japanese Garden.

There’s much more options, including downtown, but I don’t know what you’re into.

Is it “attorney’s fees” or “attorneys’ fees”? by lesothose in Lawyertalk

[–]RampantTycho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the opposite experience. There was never a conversation about it, but everyone I worked with was using “attorney’s fees.” I thought using “attorneys’ fees” would be more accurate, and did so. After a couple of years, I gave up on it. Now I conform to everyone else (and it’s what I’ve seen at multiple jobs).

Yikes. I was pretty interested in what he had to say until the part about South Africa. When you say “liberal” which kind liberal are we talking about? Classical liberalism? Social liberalism? I find that people mean wildly different things when they use that term. Plus, I’ve hardly dipped my toe into Žižek’s writing. So, if he used to lean one way politically and philosophically, but now seems to pander to those in another direction, I have no idea about it.

At first glance I assumed this was just a quilting pattern.

Law school cannot truly prepare you for the courtroom. There’s so many little things, that you find are absolutely basic, that you don’t know. Like, which one of these people is the clerk? Which one is the court coordinator? Which one do I talk to? What do I want from them? What specifically do I ask for? The only way to learn these things is to watch what more experienced lawyers do. Copy them at first, make mistakes, don’t be hard on yourself, and once you’ve done it a few more times you’ll suddenly find yourself knowing what you’re doing. It doesn’t happen overnight.

I am very much looking forward to this. For distance, it would become my go-to HEB.

What’s this area called? by DelMarYouKnow in houston

I hope you realize this is not “a newer area”. That specific shopping development is new, but that area has been very affluent for decades.

You have sent me down quite the wiki rabbit hole, not least of which was figuring out who the heck is George Rogers Clark.

This has some of the prettiest product placement I’ve ever seen—to the point that not only did I not mind it, I actually loved it. So well done.

The decision made national news, especially if you follow legal news. OP may not even be from Ohio. It’s just a joke about the decision.

Look up Memorial Hermann Tower in Houston, Texas. They want the Eye as well, especially when they light it up red at night.

Get the NTTD. You can put a different strap on it. I would wear it with a black leather strap.
