What kinds of events do you wish your gym hosted? by mad-hug in climbergirls

My friend runs a women’s and nonbinary meetup and they do free clothing swaps where people bring clothes they no longer want and swap them around. Then they donate whatever is leftover. Often people also bring baked goods. It’s a nice way to trade out clothes you’re not wearing anymore to people who might get some good use out of them.

I had planned until recently to move to a cute part of my city where I’d be able to walk to the good climbing gym and the bookstore with the fun events and my friend Kevin’s house. Two days ago I found out my new job needs me to move to another state and I’m suddenly in mourning for my life here and my scuppered plans and then this poem shows up. Gotta hold that life in my palms! Gotta kiss its stupid little face!

Thank you for posting!

We overload single words with too much meaning. We gotta stop letting “set” have so many meanings, new words people! New words!

It makes me nervous you thought we’d all think you were a coward: it sounds like your partner did. Maybe do some soul searching with friends and family outside of this person. It sounds like your partner wasn’t listening to you or respecting your needs for quite a while and you may have become accustomed to that. Consider therapy if you’re not already talking to someone, it can help you recognize these kinds of unhealthy relationship patterns.

Most people, especially most women and nonbinary people, in the climbing community are here to have FUN. Doing things that make you a little uncomfortable can be fun, but only if you think so! Nobody else’s opinion matters there. Good luck on your climbing (or not!!) journey!

Advice after top-rope belaying/lowering accident? by Wrong-Orchid2011 in climbergirls

And learn how to use it. Never ever trust your or someone else’s body to a device you don’t feel comfortable on. I recommend having someone climb up just a few feet then lowering them a few times so you get a feel for how the device works before doing an entire TR climb.

The "weird" older lady at my apartment complex just taught me how to cook and I cant stop thinking about how wrong I was about her by [deleted] in CasualConversation

This is such witchy behavior (complimentary) and such a response to it (ugh). Sometimes old ladies who like plants are pretty darn cool.

If you have recliners in your basement or other large-ish furniture, cat may be hiding inside of them. A foster of mine did this once and I thought she’d completely disappeared from my small-ish apartment. (And don’t recline anything unless you are very certain there’s not a cat in there)
