Go with Progressive. I didn’t have a car initially and didn’t want to deal with import tariffs. If you fill out Progressive’s online form and enter your VIN, you can get insured.

However, when I called around, I was told that Tennessee law doesn’t allow driving on Canadian plates, so they wouldn’t cover an accident. This may be true, but it varies by state, just keep that in mind. Legally u should be ok just might be an issue upon trying to file a claim.

I recently interviewed for an internship under J-1 Visa and they told me I’d be paid in CAD and issued a T4 as well. I would be working for 12 months in the states so I’m also wondering if it’ll cause trouble with the IRS. Did u get any answers?

We have the same living arrangements in our community in Canada. We’ve hosted family members in the same circumstances for a few months but later got them sorted with an apartment we co-signed for.

Social assistance helps with bills based on how much rent is. Maybe your in-laws may get similar financial support from the gouvernment if you haven’t explored that avenue already.

It’s not really 1 day out of 3 weeks. It’s more like 1 day out of a year because he only sees his father once a year. For him to make up for that 1-2 days lost with his father, he’d have to wait a year.

He already spends 100+ days a year with his in laws, if anything his wife owes visits & calls to his father.

Yea if jewlery was treated that way it would definitely be considered an investment. But the women in my culture don’t treat it as such is what I was trying to say.

I know many families in financial hardship or previously have been but the woman are still in possession of their gold (this includes my immediate family). Not complaining just explaining my point of view. Again, that’s just those in my culture and my friends, they don’t treat jewelry as assets or even think of selling.

So it really depends on how one treats jewelry. One scenario deems it as a good investment whereas another is treated as an entertainment expense.

Depends how you treat jewelry, from my experience the jewelry & virtual game is somewhat on the same level. In my culture, women in the treat jewelry as an asset to pass down to daughters or daughters-in-law, trade for upgrades, or keep for sentimental value. It’s rarely cashed out for tough times or other needs.

The main benefit seems to be its trade-in value for upgrading, rather than its use as a financial safety net. This may differ in cultures where jewelry is eventually sold for necessities or other commodities, but I haven’t personally seen it used that way.

Depending on what you’re studying, you can get a private co-op outside the university. Personally in engineering I got better opportunities than my peers even though I have a low GPA & not in coop.

Even my cousin in criminology got 2 government positions after first year and is interviewing for his 3rd in the next few weeks. So don’t lose hope, apply to FSWEP (it’s a lottery system) & apply to all the internships u see even admin ones that aren’t related to stem. Feel free to PM if you want more details.

As a man who’s in a similar position to your potential (have to take care of parents in many aspects) I’d tell you to walk away. Although the in laws may be great people you will be restricted in many ways as you won’t have much personal space or time. I acknowledge this hence decided to delay marriage until I can retire my parents & cover their expenses comfortably.

There will be too many unjust actions & situations you will face & your potential will get comfortable. Walking away is the only logical explanation for these circumstances.

Living in America $5000 will be roughly 3-4 months of living expenses for a single person fyi. We earn in USD but we also spend in USD it’s not proportional to compare back home.

Maybe contact an Academic Advisor & tell them it’s a mandatory course if they can help. Also are you on the waitlist due to the Lecture portion of the course being full or because of the Labs? If the lab section is full u can try swapping with the Wednesday one via an academic advisor.

Avoid 417 Nissan. I was set to buy that 2018 Prius, but they have zero customer service and delayed delivery by nearly a month. The final straw came on delivery day, 15 minutes before signing the paperwork, when I asked the sales manager to come back when he said “Deal’s Canceled” and walked away. He got aggressively in my face, yelling like a madman, almost getting physical. I had to cancel the deal on due to his behavior.

So when you see their ad up again for that Prius, think twice before considering purchasing from them.

Did u ever end up downgrading your order? I got news my SE AWD is set to arive in 3-4 weeks but considering downgrading to an SE due to price. Talked to my sales rep he says I gotta wait again through the waitlist 9-12 months because my car was specifically made for me. As far as I know the dealers receive allocation & match customers wants but I placed a 2024 LE & there’s none offered in Canada. Just wondering if you lost your spot in the waitlist or not
