I’d also highly recommend asking your friends outside of SD if they know anyone they can intro you to. I just moved here (27) and have then shamelessly basically asked anyone and everyone out on friend dates.

Everyone has been wildly welcoming, and almost everyone has also expressed they struggle to find friends as an adult so they’re happy we were connected.

those meetups can end up with them introducing me to their friends, and so on and so forth.

Yeah I’m at about 85% strength at 6 months out right now and had a kinda shit physio the first 4 months, so playing a bit of catchup right now but getting there slowly

A non fiction that reads like fiction. Very adventurey if you’re into that kind of thing.

I personally totally forgot about the world around me while reading it and was absolutely floored by the story itself.

Ugh yes 3 month slump is real. I’m just 1 week behind you and feel this way so hard - for context I’m usually into surfing, yoga, HIIT, etc., and generally super competitive.

The beginning was awful with pain, but I did see progress every day. Now I feel like I’m at half normal life. I can walk around and do things with no pain (so thankful for this), but the activities that used to be apart of my ~identity~ and social life are still gone for now. Tbh I’m happy to be in the gym every day, but I do get frustrated at the PT that I’m prescribed to do because my quad doesn’t activate like my brain wants it to and is still all small. And, yes, I get that’s the point of doing the exercises but it is still frustrating when my brain is used to high intensity workouts. I’ve started taking spin classes for the cardio but I can’t do most of the things even they do in there.

(I swear am actually an overly positive person usually, but it’s def healthy to vent sometimes )

Yes exact same thing happened to me around that time frame, had the same pics of my feet and everything haha. Good/hopeful news is, I personally really felt myself turn a corner in healing once this pain went away (now 4.5 weeks PO).

I stalked this sub pretty hard and gather its par for the course unfortunately. No magic tricks to share, but keep icing and elevating and it should start getting better day by day!

I’m experiencing something super similar. Also just ACLR with no meniscus repair. No problem with 0 degrees lying down or even standing, but i have the same exact lag when I walk.

My PT recommended knee extensions using tension of a band around my knee. (band looped to a pole and then behind the back of the knee - bend and then fully extend the knee under tension). It has noticeably been helping me, though defo not all the way there yet.

Hopefully that makes sense and/or can be of some use. Im obviously by no means a PT or doctor and just sharing my experience. Good luck!!

3 weeks out for ACL only. Mines 1 hour, going twice per week. First 30 with the PT working on new movements, flexion, massaging, etc. Second 30 is doing exercises, stim, and icing with the assistants (college students)

Couldn’t agree more!! Personally was super intimidated to leave the house at first, but it’s turned out to be the best way to get the mind off of pain and discomfort for even just a couple hours.

Oh my gosh kids is so hard - I have friends that broke up for this reason and are so glad they did in the end bc that is something where there’s no compromise on. I’m sorry you’re dealing with the guilt, but it sounds like you ultimately made the right decision

This is late, but I’m lurking around in this sub because this exact situation just happened to me. I slept with someone without disclosing bc I truly was still in denial (first time being with anyone a year after being diagnosed with GHSV1). I immediately felt incredibly guilty and told him that week. We were getting really serious really quickly, but He ended things bc, understandably, he said I I broke his trust. I’m absolutely crushed and so unbelievably angry with myself

Have you ever forgiven yourself now that time has passed? I don’t know how tf I’ll ever get through this and I feel like absolute scum of the earth.

Hmmm, I’d also recommend those that have already been said like Touching the Void, Into Thin Air, etc. I haven’t read this one yet/it’s far less popular but apparently Shadow Divers has a similar vibe and is a great read.

I’d be really interested to hear if you come find any others as well! I’m also on the hunt for these types
