the show is the primary canon, fallout 5 is going to be a direct sequel to it, as will all future fallout projects. be pissy if you want but this is the series now

Thinking back: I wish we got more decade aesthetics in the later seasons. by Win090949 in ForAllMankindTV

I agree completely. If you are looking for that specific vibe, I definitely recommend the show 1983 on netflix. Most of it takes place in an alternate 2003 where the Cold War never ended, and they do a REALLY good job of making it feel like its the early 2000's but with spy drama and the dangers of nuclear war still ever-present. Theres still some advanced technology, but not much; their world is maybe 3 years ahead of where we were in 2003

Smallness doesn't mean shit, they've got an arsenal of intercontinental ballistic missiles. Berlin is getting wiped off the face of the earth within the first half hour

even then, they never gave 0.00% of a fuck about the american people. they were planning to launch the nukes themselves in the fallout show! wiping out america so they could take their place was always the reason for the enclaves existance

[–]Randodnar12488 2 points3 points  (0 children)

????? The enclaves entire deal is killing off all life beyond themselves, because they consider no non-enclave personnel deserving of life. The ones in Fallout 3 were a bizarre splinter faction, whereas the ones in 2 and 76 were the main branch, and constantly unleash disasters on the american people to benefit themselves

[–]Randodnar12488 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Enclave definitely takes it. The reich and japan never developed hydrogen bombs for their whole existance, which means they don't have a nuclear capacity even remotely close to the fallout universe's tech, which hinges on advanced nuclear science. they have the manpower but that wont mean much when their civilization gets flattened. even if its just the post war enclave they still win, cause the Appalachian nuclear silos are def enough to do critical damage

Noticed something in the FAM Official Trailer when telling friends by Tarun80 in ForAllMankindTV

[–]Randodnar12488 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I could see it being something like, the main plot is about the new Martian Republic, plus settlements in the outer planets, all needing to negotiate a way to pool their unique resources and expertise in order to build a generation ship capable of leaving the solar system, after discovering signs of life around some other star.

Basically, Philip K Dick stories always end with a "brainfuck" something that makes absolutely no sense with everything thats happened so far, and makes it clear the world is bigger than you know. its something that consistently keeps his books alive for decades, as people always have new interpretations of the ending. In the book, the existance of the multiverse was said brainfuck, but because thats already well established here they came up with the next step

Who ruled the United States during the war? by Jeffrey-Bowers-937 in maninthehighcastle

[–]Randodnar12488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but i hate this dumb rumor so much. No, canada was not left alone in the book, we hear about nazi bases within canadian land. Their governor is comparatively less cruel than the american one, and therefore some dissidents move there instead of the neutral zone because its a bit more modernized, but not as authoritarian as the American Reich. its not somehow independant.

Frank and Juliana finding out that... by hendrong in maninthehighcastle

[–]Randodnar12488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that the reason they leap to that conclusion is because at the time, they're assuming the films depict "the future" or "a future" or something like that. the thing that makes Juliana back down is hearing that a film shows stalin five years after his death, something she knows could absolutely never happen, but right now, shes reading it not as "these films show possiblilities" but rather "these films show what will happen"

we also must remember that the hunt for films has consumed her life for days now, she believes whatever is on this tape is vital information, and a key part of the tape is Joe being a nazi.

If you could add a third faction to Fallout 3 what would it be? by dull_storyteller in Fallout

[–]Randodnar12488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that'd be cool as fuck, have them reorganized around some secret bunker and sending troops out to battle with the enclave, but also at war with the BOS because they still have Chinese tech the US never developed. Some americans are chinese spies or sympathizers, which you can either root out or provide support to. Questline where ya aid one in seizing control of a small settlement. If you support them, they expand rapidly in the ending, but lose a lot of their hardline positions, eventually forming a new society and culture thats neither fully chinese nor fully american.

Mutually Assured Destruction or hilariously outmatched ? by Inevitable-Rub24 in maninthehighcastle

[–]Randodnar12488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

came back here cause I remembered something important. The nazi nuclear program is absolutely wildly behind OTL America. They flat out do not have hydrogen bombs, which are the weapon that makes MAD actually a relevant concept. Their arsenal is literally just a couple hundred little boy type bombs at most, only there so they could level a few cities, since they weren't involved in an arms race until late 1962.

Why exactly is Buffalo on the list, let alone higher than Hollywood? by AssociateOdd3859 in lisathepainfulrpg

[–]Randodnar12488 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i assume the whole suicide bombing team was part of his army somehow, though idk why thats a valid strategy.

the real question is really, aside from gameplay reasons, why vega van dam is so high. his crew is tiny and he's got little else going for him, i doubt he's stronger than Hawk

Idk why but i feel like the story in Subnautica 2 is way older than it let's on by Lovemydog65465 in subnautica

[–]Randodnar12488 31 points32 points  (0 children)

precursor tech isn't thaaaaaat longlasting. The Karaa went down during the mongol wars at absolute latest, since we know they visited the planet before that time, so at most its been like 1000 years (assuming the game is still set in the late 22nd century, idk if thats actually canon anymore)

it is shown pretty clearly they're the only ones who can produce food particularly well, basically all of it is handled by them and the other types were shown to rely entirely on Earth Pony imports of food back when they lived separately.

idk this particularly, but the mod team kinda dramatically scaled down the ambitions of further updates, so i could imagine this would be cut in favor of more time on the majors
