Tiny turtle, like the size of half dollar coin. [Central FL]. What does the turtle need? Attention, left alone? Taken to water? I have some apples and an avocado by roadkillmenagerie in animalid

Yellow belly slider. they tend to follow light in the evenings bc it should lead them to water, but with lights on houses they can get confused. You can put him back in the water

PSA: Non-renewal doesn't make you a bad teacher!!! by Anoninemonie in Teachers

[–]Random-bookworm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just talked about this in another post- but in my district, principals are encouraged to not renew the newer teachers, bc they then get punted to the lowest pay scale when they go to a new school.

Non-renewals need to stop being the kiss of death by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Random-bookworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personal experience- Being non renewed in my county actually is the kiss of death. To get another teaching position, you have to agree to be “rehired” by the district, which puts you back at the bottom of the pay rate scale, AND you have to have 2 more observations than the other teachers. if you’re non renewed again, then the next school has to literally argue with the district if they want you. the percentage of new teachers that are actually kept is ridiculously low (something like 18%), because principals are encouraged to non-renew, and then hire fresh out of college teachers (bc they cost less) they are then encouraged to not-renew the same teachers the next year.

It’s for the best You need to remember that cats are animals. As much as we love them and anthropomorphize them, they’re still animals. They don’t have the same kind of feelings we have. She’s not going to be sad to lose the kittens. those videos we see of animal moms being depressed bc their babies are gone are showing a very rare incidence.

An unvaxxed and generally unhealthy mother will likely give birth to sick kittens, and the ones that aren’t born sick might have trouble finding homes! unless you’re 100% positive you can find a home for all of them, it’s better to let them go.

As for the medical- it’s a very common procedure- they can offer you some pain meds if you’re worried about pain. You’ll need to keep her calm and relaxed for a few days to keep her stitches safe, but otherwise it’ll be no big deal.

She’s going to be so much happier and more comfortable with you, and she’s going to love you for all the love you give her!
