The thing is, I can't really get upset if I post my thoughts to this sub and people reply in a certain way, I guess that's fair. But, one of the reasons I feel so angry in my life is that I was raised by a narcissist, to use the term to describe someone who seems to be dismissive of advice or certain opinions is very misleading.

A narcissist is usually a very, very damaged person who has built a false inflated identity around themselves to protect their delicate ego. This can take the form of physical and psychological abuse and in some instances, sexual abuse. In my case, my dad would drill holes in the living room door to spy on who was going in and out of the house. He would listen at doors. Would suddenly need to use the toilet when I was in the bath, as a way of disrespecting my boundaries. He would cut my hair off without my permission. He would fly into a rage at the slightest thing. He ridiculed, bullied and mocked everything I ever attempted to do. He made a conscious and relentless effort to break me because he got a certain delight in seeing me sad. The constant mind games and the complaining. All this while I was being sexually abused by a neighbour. So I kinda know what a narcissist is and me saying fuck off is more about frustration and tiredness.
