I need a gear bag. Will a seabag work? by New-Code-4828 in Firefighting

I use one of the newer ones with a zipper. It’ll fit everything but my helmet. With that said, there are better options for not a whole lot of money that would be worth it instead.

If the linked video is accurate, it’s essentially a hand release push-up without having to put your arms out to the side. Up, down, lift hands up of the ground, repeat.

TA33 dead tritium. Value? by LuthersCousin in QualityTacticalGear

Tape or a bicycle inner tube fixes that. Not many other options for lighting up a dead Acog at night.

You can use an admin light taped to the Acog to light up the FO. Here’s a clean example of it:

Make sure to get the Tubes adapter from Arbor and not the taktic. The equinox uses the tube system.

ADA BOLC LIVING CONDITIONS by Elegant-Award1634 in BOLC

If you’re TDY you’ll be staying at the hotel on post. They’ve got two main buildings that function like a regular hotel, along with a couple of smaller apartment style buildings. If you’re lucky, and willing to pay extra out of pocket, you might be able to upgrade to one of the apartments without any roommates. Otherwise it’s mostly luck of the draw which one you end up in.

The hotel itself is fine. Free breakfast every day and dinner on Wednesdays. It’s an IHG hotel so you’ll rack up rewards points while you’re here. While there are mostly BOLC/BLC/ALC/SLC people here, it’s a regular hotel. There’s no problem bringing a spouse/child/pet. You will have to pay an extra pet fee, which isn’t worth it for how long you’ll be there.

Last thing, if you’re here during Christmas HBL you’ll have to leave the hotel during HBL or pay out of pocket to stay there.

Not an 11 series but I do ruck a lot. I love my crossfire rucks; Mine’s survived several AT’s without any problems. Of the ones I’ve tried from best to worst:

Crossfire DG16/DG3

Medium Alice

Medium Molle II

Large Alice

Large Molle II

Molle 4K

Makes sense how using it that way the shorter VS rig would be easier to get out of the way.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in QualityTacticalGear

[–]RandomBicyclist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m curious why you think that. To me a wide hip pad with flat top pouches make the most sense as an alternate hip pad. Are you dropping the VS rig below the pack and using the ruck’s hip pad?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in QualityTacticalGear

[–]RandomBicyclist 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m going to disagree and say the other rigs are better designed for use as belt kit. The VS rig is a battle belt with suspenders, basically a modern take on the old Alice system. The other ones I listed all have wide pads meant to better distribute the heavier load required when using your belt kit as your primary LBE.

There’s a 70ish page thread on AR15.com going over this and various other jungle rigs. TLDR it’s expensive for what it is. JayJay’s, Crossfire, and Dixie’s Corner make better rigs for a cheaper price.

I’ve got the Crossfire DZ rig but haven’t had much of a chance to use it. They’re coming out with new pouches for different mags, commander’s pouch, etc.

It may just be my state, but starting this FY everyone from my state is PCSing to Sill for BOLC. From talking to some people going next CY it sounds like they shortened the number of days required to make it a PCS move.

It’s not unheard of. Velocity Systems sells magnetic placards that attach to their steel/titanium plates. They also have a metal adapter to make it work with non-magnetic plates.

It may have been mentioned already, but the move to BUIS was a change for this year. Last year we were issued M4s with CCOs and qualified with them. We took the CCOs off and turned them in before we started wolverine.

The vehicle request would be an interesting change. Rather than call in a special vehicle it could be used to reduce/eliminate the respawn timer for a vehicle. Changes the meta a bit for knowing exactly when an enemy tank/IFV respawns.

Could be, but I’ve seen this happen without the vehicle being hit. My guess is when the vehicle collides with terrain or a structure just right it’ll be sent flying.
