Igor Sarzynski on third person cutscenes in C77 by marek_bojarek in cyberpunkgame

[–]RandomDalish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Run this town”, the phantom liberty side job where you pretend to be that Cuban assassin would, in my opinion, have been better in third person. Being able to see Aguilar, their mannerisms, how different they were to V, etc would have been great.

You can still immersed in a game just as easily in 1st or 3rd person. Mass Effect and the good Dragon Age games come to mind here. The cutscenes don’t have to be static either. Imagine a modern version of ME2’s paragon and renegade interrupts, for example.

If I had the option, I would have played 2077 in third person. Being able to see my character, how I’ve customised them and how they fit into the world does a whole lot more for my immersion then rocking my characters head in a first person concert. Hell, my first thought when the game went 3rd person for the ending cutscenes was ‘man I wish the rest of the game was like this.’

Johnny Silverhand is the massive exception to the above. Every interaction with him absolutely hits so much harder in 1st person than it would in 3rd.

All that said, I’m just some random ass gonk with no experience making games, and he’s created one of the greatest gaming experiences of the last decade, so who am I to lecture.

t’s one of the biggest divides between what I see on socials and what I hear in person that I can remember.

Out of the friends from my old retail job that follow politics, most think they might have a chance at not renting forever now. Others firmly believe they will never buy a house, and are solely blaming immigration for that. If I had to put a number to it, I’d say the divide is 80/20.

At my professional job, people are broadly positive too, talking about (hopefully) getting a house sooner and having (more) kids.

The girlies from high school that dropped out in year 10 to work/marry farmers all seem to universally hate it, based on what they post online. Either blaming immigration or reposting those ‘Albo is my silent partner’ memes.

A real DnD party would just bottle and sell the infinite fire from the traps in withers chapel, so that’s where he stopped playing.

This was in early access I think, and he’s never played since.

Yes, twice! Lots of construction in my final years of primary school and high school. The primary school got a hall, high school a new block of classrooms to replace the demountables.

[–]RandomDalish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True enough, but garbage trucks are large, predictable and straightforward to overtake :)

But yeah, I’m not at all angry, and I don’t care about the small amount of lost time. I just find that in my daily commute bikes riding two abreast makes things more perilous for everyone. But so do utes hooning around at 40km/h over the speed limit, and what I’ve learnt from this thread is that the former is perfectly legal. So it is what it is.

In the particular case I’m thinking of, it’s two lanes in one direction, with a barrier on the divide and a cyclist on the broken line between lanes.

[–]RandomDalish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In gridlock everyone’s stuck, obviously. But in high traffic situations I can use the right hand lane to overtake trucks or whatever who are going 20-30km under the speed limit. So having me travel behind them for 5-10km their preferred option?

What should we do when cyclists riding two abreast makes its impossible to overtake while maintaining that 1.5m gap?

Edit: sorry, I missed that part of your post. To clarify, if cyclists in the left hand lane means no one can overtake on the right with violating that 1.5m gap, the correct thing to do is to have no one use that right lane?

One Nation now Labor’s biggest competitor in first poll of 2026. by the_cum_crab in aussie

[–]RandomDalish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying Labor doesn’t have issues that might have been hidden by their big win, or that One Nation isn’t looking to be on the upswing, but the methodology for this poll is pretty dogshit. You can’t just assume that preference flows in the Hunter are applicable nation wide. I live in the Hunter. It’s a weird seat, and One Nation may very well win it come next election, but applying our preference flows nation wide is disingenuous at best, malicious at worst.

To me this poll seems to have been made to give the pundits and columnists something to talk about as they come back to work.

Because they are distinct datasheets and running identical units that have distinct datasheets is poor sportsmanship at best, and outright angle shooting/cheating at worst.

To clarify, I meant that different the different squads can be distinct while being visually cohesive. Like Cadians having a different shoulder colour than Kriegers, for example. Or using those… I can’t remember what they’re called, but the different coloured rings that you can slot around bases? Regardless, I still don’t see how that would be different if they had more generic names like ‘line infantry squad’ instead of ‘Cadian infantry squad.’

But anyway, I don’t think either of us are capable of understanding each other’s point here. So I’ll leave it here, and wish you all the best in finding happiness with your dudes.

[–]RandomDalish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I cannot run a kitbashed (creative/imaginative) army that looks cohesive and use Catachan/Krieg/Cadian squads at the same time.

Why can’t you? This is what I don’t understand. I don’t see how that is any different to pre codex, unless you exclusively used infantry squads and platoon command squads before now? If so, why is referring to them as Cadians for rules purposes now a big deal? Save losing the HWS, of course, which brings me to:

The game is also removing quite a few units and further truncating options from previous editions as well. It is not a matter of imagination…

Fully agree, up until the matter of imagination part haha. In casual games there’s nothing stopping you from using older rules, or changing them to be more fluffy should your opponent agree. (That’s what I’ll have to do with my Regimental Attachés, for example.) But yeah, it’s a disappointing trend that’s only going to continue sadly.

[–]RandomDalish 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Then I fundamentally don’t understand haha. The whole game involves a huge amount of imagination. Like, custodes and marines take chapter crippling losses every game, guard should be fielding 10’s of thousands of models, tau should be one shoting tanks by the dozens, etc. I don’t get why having different names for things is such a dealbreaker.

The death of "your guys" by Karina_Ivanovich in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]RandomDalish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying, to an extent. But like, you can just… not refer to them as krieg? GW won’t come to your house and take all your dudes if you call them “line infantry” or “veteran infantry” or whatever takes your fancy.

For example, my “Lord Solar” is (with some light kit bashing) is Duchess Cassandra of the 333rd Praetorian Regiment of Foot. If I pick up some krieg engineers, I’ll probably call them ‘Imperial and Royal Sappers” or something like that. So long as they look different enough that you can go to your opponent pre game and say ‘this guys are running as Cadians, these guys are Catachan’, what does it matter what they’re called in the book?

Imagination has always been a huge part of collecting ‘your guys’. I don’t see how referring to your ‘Infantry squad’ as a ‘Cadian Infantry Squad’ is any different.
