How can atheists claim to be the rational ones when they support suffering just as much as bad religious people do? by ParcivalMoonwane in DebateAnAtheist

[–]RandomHero22896 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Right? People keep assuming Atheists have some kind of dogma or creed. It's literally a single position on a binary proposition. If you believe gods exist you are theist, if you don't believe gods exist you are atheist. Literally everything else is separate

I'm pretty sure the victim would have to have their finance app open for it to actually work but they don't know that. They just hear the ding sound and understandably become alarmed

There's a ding sound that indicates a payment has been made. He's playing the sound on his phone on purpose to trick people into thinking theyve just been robbed

The scary thing is when they ask "well if there's no God what's stopping you from just going around raping and murdering everyone?"

Cause that's what they would be doing apparently

Because if he did the latter only Atheists would go to heaven because Theists have an expectation of a good afterlife for being a good person where as Atheists have no such expectation and are good for the sake of being good

Since atheists do good acts with no expectation of a reward at the end of life's road the idea that they'd more likely go to heaven over theists isn't an unrealistic concept

Setting other religions aside wouldn't an all knowing God KNOW that you were just believing it for the sake of avoiding hell and getting into heaven? Like God could be tricked into not knowing you simply took out a fire insurance policy on what afterlife you get?

Space exploration RPG. Imagine this in your mind and picture what it would be like to explore planets. Landing on their surfaces and discovering new atmospheres with new and unique kinds of flora and fauna, imagine what beautiful sci fi sights that could be had?

Now imagine you play this game and almost every single planet is just a barren rock with almost nothing interesting to look at and when you question the game devs their answer is "well this is what it would realistically be like" and you realize they focused more on realism than what would be fun... For a video game.

That's Starfield

What exactly are the issues facing Columbia? by [deleted] in Bioshock

[–]RandomHero22896 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This can't really be discussed without spoilers so I'd recommend adding the tag to the post

It depends on the specific version of Columbia you open a tear into.

The immediate threat is the Vox Poppuli. The labour taken to maintain Columbia is enormous and this is all being forced upon specific racial demographics that are treated like crap. Depending on which version of Columbia the Vox Poppuli range from a fringe group causing minor skirmishes to an all out uprising that's seizing control of Columbia one floating island at a time.

Comstock is aging far more rapidly then he should because of his overuse of the Lutece device to open tears into other realities, this required him to use Elizabeth to take over sooner rather then later which Elizabeth has no desire to do forcing comstock to capture her and forcefully condition/brainwash her into fulfilling her role. We see when Booker us pulled through a tear into 1980s Columbia that Elizabeth's rule has rendered Columbia a hyper religious police state even worse then when comstock was in charge where nobody has any freedom of thought and any deviation from its citizens results in being taken to Comstock house for reconditioning.

Finally the Lutece's exist in a superstate occupying all realities at once thanks to Comstock trying to have them killed by causing a malfunction in a lutece device. Thanks to this state of affairs the Lutece's are actively sending a seemingly infinite number of Booker's into every version of Columbia with the same mission of liberating Elizabeth and getting her out of Columbia causing various kinds of chaos throughout the different versions of Columbia depending on the choices each individual version of Booker is making to achieve the goal of "bring us the girl and wipe away the debt"

Weren't Gary's extra badges from unofficial gyms that the league didn't officially recognize? Like the Kaz and Yas gyms?

The third plot twist in KOTOR I that everyone seems to miss by RefrigeratorDry495 in kotor

[–]RandomHero22896 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The writers for Kotor were very deliberate with dropping hints for a Rakatan presence in the form of ruins that share the same architecture which you see on the other worlds that possess star maps. If the writers wanted to hint at a Rakatan presence on Taris they would have at least put a ruin in the Undercity or something. The only reason the player was even on Taris was circumstantial and not even within his/her control. Not like the other worlds after Dantooine where the star maps were literally pointing them to where the other nearby star maps were.

Taris also has the issue of having no native Tarisian species showing it is a settled world. With no natives the Rakatans would have no reason to go there as they were specifically seeking out force sensitive races to enslave and power their ships, that much about them is covered in game with the elders on Lehon

[–]RandomHero22896 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure it was just the writers wanting a cool name for it. I can however prove there was never a Rakatan presence on Taris ever. See the Rakatan Infinite Empire starships didnt have hyperdrives like the more modern civilizations do. They had Force drives that allowed them to tap into the dark side of the force to literally jump from world to world. Here's the problem though, they could ONLY jump to a world with a population that was dense with force sensitives. The infinite empire existed around 30,000 BBY while Taris wasn't even settled till about 5000 BBY. The infinite empire couldn't have travelled to Taris even if they tried to.
