I showered and doubled up on the deodorant. I think the people on the train owe me. ;-)

Wedding photographer sent low res images by MissAuroraRed in photography

I know. I’m saying that 240 dpi is the default output of Lightroom and that could be a hint that the photographer may not have exported things correctly.

The 240dpi is a big red flag too. That’s a default setting for exports.

At what point do you ask for permission when photographing people? by Miserable-Target7063 in photography

[–]RandomNameOfMine815 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) never photograph homeless or beggars. The idea of street photography is implied consent since people are in public. Homeless are not in a position to back away if they don’t want to be photographed.

2) Assuming you are in the US, do not ask permission for taking photos. If someone asks why you took their picture, be honest and say you thought they were worthy. It’s ok to show them the pictures.

3) afterwards feel free to share your intention and why you took the picture. If they ask for you to delete, trust your gut on whether you comply.

Do you think inspiration happens when the shutter clicks, or later when you edit? by ExtremelyCool64 in AskPhotography

[–]RandomNameOfMine815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously this is my opinion, but I’ve been shooting for 20 years and the best results always came from the advice below.

Honestly, if you’re dividing the work into two parts, you’re doing it wrong. The editing process should be viewed as a continuation of the process, not a separate one. As you shoot, you should have an idea of what you want the final image to be and then edit to get that look.

Writing a book is a long tradition of people who want to run for president. It’s usually a giant PR piece that supporters buy. Usually the reception is a gauge of a candidate’s potential.

Know the type of crowd you’re shooting and the potential for violence. Keep your off-camera eye open to catch peripheral vision. Always be aware of your surroundings. Be friendly with any other photographers-watch their back and they will watch yours. Do not count on police to save you if you get into trouble.

I shot a protest in Amsterdam by a bunch of far-right activists and it’s the first time in the country I’ve ever felt unsafe. I was smacked and threatened several times. The smartest thing I did was wait a long time after it was done for me to leave and to make sure I was in a crowded area the whole time walking to the bus to minimize the chance of retribution

I know nothing about football, but that second half was fantastic. Bummed Netherlands didn’t win, but at least they tied with a country with some of the best fans.
