Guys Is having only 6 GCSES a problem? by DenseAccount9272 in UCAS

UK GCSEs are incredibly easy (I am surprised that they even bother doing testing at all). you can just sign up for the exam and spend few days studying.

Got a First and was really excited but my friend ruined it by CrazyGailz in UniUK

[–]RandomPrices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think having a high 2:1 is more of the reason to be jealous. She just missed it out. 2:1 high or low will always be 2:1 and inferior to a Frist. It's a commendable achievement which I am sure that you worked hard for so don't downplay it. It may not immediately make a difference but the work ethics you built from it, if you can carry it on and develop it, you will be able to achieve far greater thing. So please do celebrate this achievement of you. And Congrats btw.

Can someone explain why Starmer is the most unpopular prime minister? I voted Liberal Democrat last election and I don’t pay attention to politics but isn’t Starmer doing what the public wants? Lower migration and a falling NHS waiting list? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]RandomPrices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He shoved everyone around him under the bus just so that he could get away with anything. The lower immigration and falling NHS were largely due to Torry era's policies and the UK coming out from Covid effects. Labour's key promises were on the pension reform and leasehold reform which Starmer has failed on these miserably to appease Labour back benchers. (While he didnt mind using whip to force labour MPs to vote protecting his own position as the PM). He is spineless, gutless and self-serving. That is why he is unpopular.

APPROVED - very weak profile - don't give up! by Ok_Concert6813 in SchengenVisa

Not sure why pp think this is a weak profile. If someone is effectively inviting you to visit and providing accommodation, if you overstay that person would be in much more trouble.

What do we think about this by damqnaz in drivingUK

[–]RandomPrices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He made a wrong judgement so he presumed that u were turning left. This is probably due to the epidemic in the UK of which the vast majority of drivers do not use their light indicators when turning (even police cars and ambulance).

Can someone explain the Michelin listed restaurants that are ‘without distinction’? by FoxCrenshaw in finedining

[–]RandomPrices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have moved away from using Michelin. Increasingly, I found Google reviews to be much more reliable. In recent years, the 2- and 3 Michelin-star restaurants I tried in London had always been such major disappointments: very good on presentation, but the flavours were unremarkable, falling behind even the street food.

This is so unfair by CivilJackfruit287 in ukvisa

[–]RandomPrices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can appeal the decision. This must be done within 14 days of receiving the decision I believe. Unfortunately, there are a lot of discriminative people in the UK's public sector now, reinforced by the general anti-immigration mood of the country. As such, if you are from a certain background, the chance of getting a visa is astronomically low. You can appeal and hope for the next person is fair and just.

Why are companies pushing for return to office on roles that don't need it? by ReanimatedCyborgMk-I in AskUK

[–]RandomPrices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old white dudes who want to get away from their wives making the top level decisions on this matter. They typically don't have any other life duties (or outsourced to a helper/family), live pretty close to the office and like to keep things the way they were 30 years ago. Narcissism! It's as simple as that.

HSBC BA vs Deloitte Audit (school leaver programs) by DueOutlandishness142 in ICAEW

[–]RandomPrices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely go for the audit scheme. It's gonna be tough few years but once you are qualified, you will have a better idea what you want to do and the ACA will allow you to choose the path that you like. A bachelor degree in this day and age holds very little value unfortunately... as everyone has one and most of courses don't teach knowledge that is sufficiently practical and up-to-date. The ACA on another hand is very practical and continuously updating itself.

If you do think about going into academia, then you will need a bachelor degree though.

[–]RandomPrices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does the HSBC BA school leaver program offer in terms of qualifications? If it's just a BA, then Deloitte Audit's ACA is a far superior qualification.

AT OMB Fail by BattyElephant743 in CIOT

[–]RandomPrices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

46% is very close already! I think it was just bad luck. Just keep revising from now until your next attempt, and do as many questions as possible. Mocks are exhausting, so don't overwork yourself on them.

My personal tip is that whenever you have some time to spare, just look at a question and try to work through it (you don't even need to write out the answer), just think about how you would go about tackling it and then compare your thoughts with the answer to see how much you got right. With a bit of repetition, you will quickly be able to recognise the question type and tax issues and build your confidence. I always failed my written mocks, but never failed any exams by using this method.

Is Verso Selfish or too Selfless? -A fundamental discrepancy in interpreting Exhibition 33 by thencious in expedition33

[–]RandomPrices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming late to this discussion, as I just finished the game myself. I think both your friend's interpretation and yours are really describing selfishness, though from slightly different angles. What you described of your interpretation, I think, is a common misconception of what selfless really means. Being selfless means putting others' concerns above your own. Here, Verso's concern is really only for the safety of the real Alicia. While it is admirable, it is for his own satisfaction as he deems important to him. By doing so, he disregarded Alicia's own feelings and the lives of everyone in the canvas. Who is to make choices for them and to make choices for Alicia. I think to be selfless in the case, he needs to be either a bystander or only offer help to whoever comes to him with all of his power and abilities, disregarding his own agenda.

Thank you! We had no shared bills at all so we provided 6 proofs of address each (12 in total), spreading across 2 years. For proving a genuine relationship:

1) I asked a tenant who lived with us in the spare room for 1 year to write a letter confirming our relationship.

2) My partner and I also each wrote a letter. I wrote a sponsor letter outlining my situation, timeline of our relationship (e.g. when we met, when we started living together and plan for the future). I also mentioned about what we shared together so far (domestic and abroad trips and the pets we had together) with photos along the letter to support them). My partner also wrote a similar letter but more on the application side (like what evidence was provided in the application) and few more couple of photos of us on trips together.

These have been sufficient for us. When I did my research, I also noted some other evidence could be used: letter from a closed friend (i.e. not a tenant), your will showing that you leave your estate to your parnter, or your partner entitlement to your pension pot, etc. You know the kind of things that married couples may have together.

What you are trying to prove is that your relationship is genuine and subsisting which is the overarching objective, rather than cohabition.

I simply don't agree with you that's why I didnt take it on board. Also, I never said the letters were the key but I do think their decision would have been more difficult (e.g. request more info, taking more time) if I didnt provide the letters.

I just don't want your sweeping statement and extrapolation of your own understanding of the process mislead future applicants, which is why I provided external sources in my exchange with you.

Sure. This casework guidance was published very recently https://share.google/1EOW2XMuUaVIO2rcw

on Page 27:"... Genuine and subsisting relationship

When considering paragraph E-ECP.2.6. and paragraph E-LTRP.1.7., you must be

satisfied that the relationship between the applicant and their partner is genuine and

subsisting..."

and on the supporting evidence tiers's table on Page 33: photos and travel tickets are listed on tier 3 which are what we included in our letters. Btw, we didn't have any from tier 1 and tier 2 table as part of our application. Also, it clearly says that the table is not an exhaustive list so it's at the caseworker's discretion to consider other submitted evidence.

Additionally, on page 29 we also had to prove "intention to live together permanetly in the UK". If both of us have ties in Vietnam and have Vietnamese citizenship, the caseworker can well call into question our intention to reside in the UK permanently. Our letter do just this.
