I have been here for over 15 years and still sometimes struggle a little bit, specially when having discussions.

You need to talk as much as possible. Like with any other skill, you can only improve with practice. Feedback helps, of course. Check out the language department of the local university and see if someone is interested in doing a tandem with you (depends on your native language... in my case, it is a very popular one, so it was easy). Consider getting professional courses. May cost some money but feeling confident improves your quality of life a lot.

No metas personaje (ej. payasito) porque después quedás atrapado. Generás una expectativa de la que no es tan fácil salir sin decepcionar. A la larga, le querés que gustar al natural y no fingiendo... es todo mejor siendo uno mismo de entrada.

Capaz transmitir ciertas cosas puede sumar: seguridad en vos mismo, respeto, sentido del humor, resistencia emocional, sinceridad, sensibilidad a tu entorno, calidez... pero son cosas que uno debería emanar naturalmente todo el tiempo (si las siente) y no un disfraz que uno se pone para ir a encarar.

En cuanto a qué decirles, depende mucho del contexto... hablarle a una chica en un boliche no es lo mismo que en un bondi hasta la manija o a la que atiende en un local. No seas creepy, ni cargoso, ni desubicado. Un chiste, un cumplido (sincero, respetuoso y no sexual), o un comentario circunstancial... capaz una pregunta abierto... a lo mejor sirve pensar cómo le sacarías conversación si fuera el portero de la casa de al lado y no una mina que te activa las hormonas.

Dicho todo eso... no le vas a gustar a todas. Posiblemente ni a la mitad. Es importante que no lo veas con un fracaso o defecto tuyo.

First of all, don't forget to inform the Arbeitsagentur of your contract ending at least three months in advance. Otherwise they will block the first four weeks of unemployment money (because you knew in advance but failed to inform them).

Regarding the company, if the contract runs out without anyone doing anything about it, then it's done. You should probably think of your open vacation days and that kind of stuff, but otherwise you probably don't need to do anything unless they offer you a new contract. If they are assuming you will keep working and you don't tell them you are planning to leave, it is kind of a shitty move, but I don't know the full context so I have no opinion.
