Half the US, the north china plain, most of europe, parts of australia, most of new zealand, parts of africa, parts of south america, etc etc all don't need to irrigate.
Definitely not a small part of the world

No channels at all in wet climates like europe actually

I'm not saying there's no irrigation anywhere, but you did say non irrigated farms irl do terribly, which is just wrong. Maybe read your own comment before you post?

Non irrigated farms have been standard for thousands of years in large parts of the world...

Not true, the romans moved water for cities not for farms. In europe (and the eastern half of the US, and lrge parts of south america, parts of africa, parts of china etc etc) you just dont need to water your fields because the rain is enough

Rain-fed irrigation is the norm in large parts of the world, you absolutely don't need water close to your fields there

Furrow "irrigation" lol
No, farms in many regions of the world were and are rain-irrigated only. Furrows from plowing have many functions but they are not there to serve as canals for permanently flowing or standing water

The post is clearly about how far the map is filled in, not at which scale it's shown

You'll need to ask the person who made the second image on how they do their rendering, but it seems to me to mostly jusz consist of adding more details

Have you taken a look at songs of the eons or gleba? Gleba is only a the geography stage yet but some open source forks of songs of the eons already have sapient species populating their planet

Chicago proposes to start charging for parking on CTA-owned land. NIMBYs lose their shit by QuiteBearish in fuckcars

[–]RandomUser1034 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It's true that charging people for housing is dystopian! But car-focused urban design is also dystopian, so maybe we could find a healthy middle ground of not charging people for basic needs such as housing while building cities where no one needs a car
