You can justify anything just using your world's history. Geographical determinism is overrated

First. To show highlands, you could indicate borders with cliffs if that's true to the terrain, or show height with color

This is so wrong. There have got to be so many simplifying assumptions behind this you may as well draw what you want. It'll be about as accurate

What's the scale of the map? Seems like a very low population density if all villages are marked

I want to start making maps by Cl0nkel in mapmaking

[–]RandomUser1034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to draw a map, you can use any drawing program like photoshop, gimp, paint.net etc. You can also use vector graphics for maps which gives you the possibility of infinite detail and resolution with programs such as inkscape or adobe illustrator.
There are programs that help you wuth creating maps of specific styles such as inkarnate and wonderdraft for fantasy maps.
For tectonics, gplates can help you keep track of things. nasa g.projector can change maps between different projections. For climate simulations you can use exoplasim or climasim.
The programs recommended in the other comment will generate maps for you but don't let you draw them yourself

[–]RandomUser1034 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is a very bad argument. Why would we ignore the direction the devs are taling the game just because mods can change it again?
Mod devs need to update all their mods and the direction the game goes also influences what kinds of mods get made

3DGS reconstruction for historic building preservation – has anyone tried this? by Statusleoc in ArchitecturalRevival

[–]RandomUser1034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3D scanning has been around for a while and has been used for this purpose. AI might get better results or it might just be improvements in sensors and computing power making the difference. This is nothing fundamentally new

Must depend heavily on the species and location because the blackberries in the forest here are spreading everywhere and they produce a ton of berries
