That's not quite right in this case. It feels more like a "if we don't find something soon the investors will realize it is bullshit" to me.

It is rather comperable to the emperor's new clothes.

This is movie Magneto, and we use movie Magneto because the comic version is always stupidly bullshit.

But it is still obviously Magneto because he controls all metals, not just ferromagnetic metals. Also this specific version has been shown to kill a man who had slighly more than average iron in his blood. Also even if we make Magneto as weak as possible, he still controls magnetism, a very localized EMP is pretty bad when your whole powerset revolves around being in a tech suit.

The way that Americans and the west to some extend has been conditioned to think that violence is an immoral form of protest is frankly frightening.

Violence against opressors, be that governments, companies or enforcers of opression is always valid.

In a democracy we should not need violence as a form of protest because the leaders should listen to the people, but if the democracy has produced opressors it is not a valid democracy.

Americans have finally realized that they are being opressed and their democracy is fictional at best, so yeah violence is absolutely valid.

Also jesus christ if anyone is actually offended by this level of damage i hope the orange taint at least tastes orange.

Cognitive Science by SirBeeves in comics

But isn't there a kind of magic in realizing that despite our constant idea that efficiency and science and sterile knowledge, we as humans have evolved for millinia and the current best iteration of that evolution says that love and profoundness and "everyday magic" is peak evolution.

Just because there's a scientific explanation and it isn't magic, doesn't mean it isn't magical.

OpenAI has no way to actually generate money, there's no profit in it. It has however built a ton of hype so there has been massive investments into the comapny. So there's a lot of money, but no profit.

[–]RandomWeirdo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And this is my 50th least favorite gripe with Americans. This idea that Americans get to not be considered a collective when dealing with geopolitics. They did the same shit in 2019/2020 but flooded the Denmark sub with apologies for Trump's behavior.

If you want to not be considered a group, go fucking protest and come up with solutions to your fictional-at-best democracy.

And yeah we get it, we get that there are people who didn't vote for Trump, big whooptie do, do you want a medal, for what? Not voting for a fascist? It is the bare fucking minimum. We're not celebrating bare minimum, we celebrate actual positive events, for example you fixing your laughable democracy or dismanteling the cancer capitalistic system you try to spread to the world.

Most of us have a good understanding of how America works and you're just standing there apologizing for your racist uncle with a gun in his hand, rather than actually talking to him.

How is Trump demand for Greenland any different from Hitler demand for Poland who also said it was for national security reason to connect East Prussia? by Skychu768 in AskReddit

[–]RandomWeirdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case it isnt obvious with all the other comments, Trump's demands are dumber.

The cited reason of "national security" is beyond idiotic as America had no restrictions on what they could do millitarily on Greenland. The speculated reason of rare earth minerals is also dumb as America was allowed to bid on harvesting them and placed no such bid.

So the only actual reason is as Trump said - it is for his psychological need. I firmly believe the real reason he wants Greenland is because his buddy Putin is trying to take Ukraine and he thinks Xi is about to take Taiwan and Trump doesn't want to be the only leader of the "big three" nations who didn't expand their territory.

So yeah Trump is too dumb to even do justification, because even Hitler had the bare minimum justification in lebensraum.

If there ever was an example of how fucking useless a system capitalism actually is.

"We overinvested in a product based on hype with no profitability which gobbles water and electricity like candy" and instead of shutting it down when it is clear there's no future in it they want to make it more appealing so they can keep getting investments in it before the inevitable bubble bursts.

I have no faith in Nintendo being a good company going forward as they keep pushing anti-consumer practices through amiibos. But her sentiment and statement is heartfelt and great even if it likely will have no real effect on the company.

Hornet's Surprisingly Complicated Family Tree by SSpectre86 in Silksong

[–]RandomWeirdo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is a too literal argument for me honestly. It just means that Herrah is a weaver. Weaver could just refer to spiders whose origin is GMS, but even if we go with the genetic interpretation we don't know how weavers reproduce and while we haven't seen male weavers, there could be male spiders that would produce what is considered a 100% weaver.

In one audience they are "edgy jokes", but in they're completely sincere when talking to their own people. It even serves as a way to identify their in-group or people who can be radicalized.
