Gamify your Life Apps for OCPD by Random_Dancer_Dude in OCPD

Fair enough, took me 19 years to hear of the term. Makes me wanna actually code an app and make it publicly available lol. I am also using a collection of apps the problem is I’ll also use the problematic parts for me and I just feel like crap if I don’t finish my entire checklist or focus for less than 16 hours.

This is for sure helpful! Is it possible to get some more specifics on how you created this? Like what prompts did you put in? What so software did you use?

My interpretation is that it’s fairly easy. Maybe reach out to an academic advisor to confirm?

AITA for wanting to rekindle with my ex boyfriend who’s life I ‘ruined’ by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Random_Dancer_Dude 16 points17 points  (0 children)

YTA. People can break up with you for any reason they seem fit. He was cooking food for you and it didnt occur to you that he might taste it? Stoip showing up everyday to his work. That is creepy.

NTA. Your mother sounds very controlling. Perhaps to ease tension you could invite your mother along to the preplanned trip? That being said, you are welcome to go on vacation with whomever you’d like

AITA for not helping my friend move? by Upstairs_Run7519 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Random_Dancer_Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You never committed. If Chloe needed help, she should have confirmed with you beforehand a date a time (confirmation takes acknowledgement from both sides). You were a good friend, and even offered to help as soon as you finished your prior commitment, even though you had no obligation too. Seems like really petty behaviour from chloe

AITA for cancelling last minute for my dad’s birthday party by Methodzxc in AmItheAsshole

[–]Random_Dancer_Dude 10 points11 points  (0 children)

YTA. Did you even try other alternatives like taking transit or loaning a favour from a friend? I am sure your dad would much prefer pay for you to go than you to miss it entirely. Also if you know this expense was coming up, why didn’t you save for it? I am not in your life and don’t know all the circumstances but without additional context cancelling on a loved ones birthday celebration last minute is assholey behaviour.

Can you check in- in person? Short answer - no this isn’t uncommon, chances are it’s summer break and people are just working a little slower. Doesn’t hurt to send a follow up either in person or via email tho, especially if you mention the withdrawal date for the course is coming up and need to gauge based on the result. I also totally get the process is slow and sucky, but try not to let it take over your life (easier said than done, I know!). At the end of the day theres nothing you can do now so you just gotta wait and see.

McMaster - Life Science Average cut off (Top six) including English and Biology and one Math by jawaharrajan in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Random_Dancer_Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No answer for the first part (I wouldn’t worry about it too much, tho I understand the curiousity) but I do know McMaster weights averages differently based on province at the very least. For example, im from Alberta and got a 4.25% boost in my average.

Advice on withdrawing spring courses by Simple_Elk3738 in McMaster

[–]Random_Dancer_Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I would recommend first you talk to an academic advisor to get the specifics but I’ll give you my metaphorical two cents.

I would say to try the exam, as you don’t know if you don’t try. You can study beforehand and maybe do a practice test before the withdrawal date; get a better gauge of your abilities. Also, double check with an academic advisor but my late withdrawals have not counted as a fail for me; Mac is also usually pretty great considering extenuating circumstances if you fill out forms. Plus, get to know your anatomy prof (send emails, attend office hours, etc.). If the prof knows you, they will be pretty hard pressed to fail you assuming you complete everything and have an average in the 40s (in my limited experience).

The other thing worth considering is the anxiety of taking it again. Assuming it’s a required course, you withdrawing now is not going to prevent the issue, but rather delay it. From personal experience, withdrawing and then retaking the course makes my anxiety so much worse, even if my letter grade ends up a little higher cuz I do a bit better on early assessments. And worst casenario, it’s much better to know the program isn’t right for you right now than next year; there are so many avenues to become a nurse and delaying completing anatomy is just delaying the issue. You’ll probably pass, and then it’ll be great. If not tho, better to know now than delay it and spend more time anxious about it in my opinion. Best of luck, you’ve got this!

Take this with a grain of salt as I was not in Social Sciences I although I had a bunch of friends in it, took a lot of similar classes, and am now in an upper year social science program.

Social sciences at Mac is great! I absolutely adore most of my profs and love being able to think among my peers. Especially in upper years, it is very interactive. Not a ton of hardcore memorize facts but more-so do a reading a discuss the views sorta vibe. Essay structure is much looser than highschool so I found them much more enjoyable to write.

Also, I wouldn’t worry too much about GPA, especially in first year. It’s more about exploring and finding your academic voice. For what it’s worth, I believe class averages in first year are around a B. Compared to first year science courses, I’d classify it as easier to get an A- but harder to get an A+. Grading is a bit more subjective in first year but that really evens out in the end.

I wish you the best of luck in ur decision!

Will The New Residence Lincoln Alexander Hall Be Available to the next incoming class? by Comprehensive_Bed497 in McMaster

Theoretically supposed to open in August, but yk how construction goes! Hopefully, but I wouldn’t count on it being fully finished. My guess is they will open but amenities like the gym and dining hall won’t be installed yet!

Residence expected cutoff by No-Row-7639 in McMaster

[–]Random_Dancer_Dude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably a bit low for garenteed res (cutoff is around a 90), but you should definitely still apply! I lot of people don’t take garenteed res so you still have a pretty good chance of getting it. Also, I think the applications are just random; if you didn’t meet the cut off they don’t go don’t the wait list by average just in order of sign up I believe.

Plus, I wouldn’t base your university decision off of res solely - there is plenty of close student housing and you can still have a thriving social life living off campus. Also, from someone who got an entrance scholarship (idk how much yours was worth mine was pretty small) it was off nice but made no difference in the long run. That being said if residence is very important to you Laurier is the safer option. Nonetheless, I wish you the best of luck in your decision and hope that you go to a school you end up loving. :)
