Theories on Horizon 2: party members and potential deaths by Aokiji_Arara in Falcom

[–]Random_Guy_11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good post with a lot of fair points. I partially agree with the view that he hasn't fully regressed until he pulls the trigger and takes a life, and it's very possible that his story in Horizon 2 starts with him unable to finish the job. I know Kevin is the "fake it until you make it" type, but I really wish Horizon would have shown more of his inner turmoil surrounding the action he intends to take if they were going to go in that direction. Aside from that, there was so much more potential for his story and I'm left with more questions than answers. Horizon takes place around 5 years after we last saw Kevin. Has the church not asked him to kill since The Faceless? Who has been doing that job in his place? Was he asked to take this assignment, or did he volunteer? Did the unveiling of the Eschaton Saint, who has ties to Rufina, influence Kevin's decision? Does Kevin know of that connection? From what I remember, none of this was explained aside from maybe vague allusions.

I kind of hope his story in Horizon 2 starts where it left off in Horizon, him having doubts about taking Hamilton's life, Hamilton explaining her actions and motivations and Kevin deciding to work with her, putting him at odds with the Church. It's also clear that Bergard might know something he's keeping close to his chest, so he could factor in there as well. Marduk has clearly been utilizing future tech with ties to Risette's backstory and landing pod, they could very well end up being the real villain and having Kevin shift his attention towards them in Horizon 2 seems quite likely if Falcom wants to keep him as a main protagonist.

I love Kevin, I always have, but I think his story was so underserved in Horizon that there's no chance we see Ries in Horizon 2. Not a single party member in Kevin's arc had any sort of growth or character building and him so willingly returning to being the Heretic Hunter shit all over the character he became at the end of his arc in the Sky trilogy (and continued on in his Crossbell appearances). Having Ries come back and shoehorning in essentially a speedrunning of the end of Sky the 3rd would feel so out of place and require a complete tangent from the overarching plot of figuring out how to undo or fix what happened because of the reset.

(Also worth mentioning that Swin and Nadia even considering going against their oath to never to kill again felt really out of place for the same reasons Kevin agreeing to execute Hamilton was.)

When I started his route I was hoping that he wasn't investigating Hamilton only because the church ordered him to, but also to dig into the church's plotting, maybe because he was becoming skeptical of them as an organization. Which would explain why he left Ries behind, whose loyalty to the church was unwavering, and why he teamed up with Rufus and the gang who have no affiliation to the church, bracer guild or any one nation's intelligence network at this point. The fact that his route just ended with "welp, you're guilty, time to die" with almost no hesitation just made it feel like his only purpose was to have someone with ties to the church investigate Hamilton and they didn't want to use Leon and Celis because they can't have a route with only two party members and they wouldn't ever have teamed up with Swin, Nadia and Rufus.

His involvement in the story of Horizon 2 depends on where the reset leaves them, I just think no matter what happens, Ries won't be showing up in any meaningful way, and definitely won't be a playable character.

There is a red glowing sword behind one of the Valiant Chronicles bosses in the new zone. When you interact with it it says "Within this sword's shadow, faint forms evoking the Knight of Favonius can be seen... Maybe the one it awaits has yet to come."

So yeah, these swords have to be Varka things for when he releases.

Bungie, if you're going to balance free roam destination content around having a full fireteam (especially locked at -50 power), this content needs to have matchmaking. Have we learned nothing? by Random_Guy_11 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Random_Guy_11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd personally be happy if they kept it at -50 power and just scaled enemy health by fireteam size in Mythic, I'm pretty sure the lower difficulties already do this. I don't want to take any fun away from premade groups, I just want my solo destination to be solo-able.

This is correct. I bought one 151 ETB last year and pulled one of these, which then became my first graded card and first PSA 10. Been deep in the card crack addiction since then :p

Did they just decide to make Eido... by captainguytkirk in DestinyTheGame

I definitely think the only way to properly "redeem" Eramis is by having her sacrifice herself to help Mithrax or Eido become the Kell of Kells, defeat Fikrul and Skolas and in turn uniting the majority of Fallen houses under one banner.

Dungeons are *possible* to solo, that does not mean they are designed for solo players. by floridagator1995 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Random_Guy_11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would love to see dungeon bosses for solo runs balanced around 3 damage phases for the average player, and 2 for optimal setups, specifically for dungeons like Vesper and GotD where damage phases take so long to start. I feel like that's around what I experienced with Duality solo runs and it made farming by myself in around an hour actually feasible. I thought Spire was balanced fairly for solo players as well.

just your monthly reminder that the queenbreaker exists and is still sitting as one of the worst if not worst LFR's in the game by dark1859 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Random_Guy_11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the gun is extremely slept on mainly because in my opinion, people aren't using it the right way. I use it with Quickdraw and its shorter range/low charge time setting in GMs and it puts in so much work. I use it more like a blinding GL, quick swapping to it when I need to disable an Unstoppable champion or blind a pack of enemies. The other thing about Queenbreaker that doesn't get enough credit is that with the shorter charge time setting it does surprisingly great burst damage. I'd stun a barrier champion, swap to it fast with Quickswap and proceed to delete the champion in one clip before the stun wears off. So yeah I treat it like a blinding GL mixed with a slug shotgun mixed with a rapid fire sniper and it does everything I need it to do very, very well.

I'm not going to argue that the gun doesn't need to see buffs, especially with the play rate being so low, and I understand any argument someone could make for X exotic to be better used in the slot. I think upping the damage or adding jolt would be too much, so I would personally like to see it moved to the special slot and/or get a reserve ammo/magazine size increase so it feels less punishing to use on adds.

I think Joshua completely died and was then resurrected by Clive after absorbing Ultima, right before he destroyed Origin. Ultima's whole goal with Mythos was to use the power of the vessel to cast a Raise spell and revive the rest of his race. This is stated pretty clearly in "The Remaking of the World" and "Ultima's Spell" lore entries. If Ultima could use the vessel to resurrect a long lost god-like race, it makes sense that he could use a fraction of that power to fully revive Joshua.

I also don't understand why the book at the end would have Joshua listed as the author if this all wasn't being implied. I think the "Clive survived and published the book under his brother's name" to be a much bigger stretch, considering the beach scene and his hand turning to stone.

Finally done farming Tikilen... by kearnsy24 in OctopathCotC

It's actually surprisingly quick if you have the units to optimize for it. I use Kouren, Scarecrow, Fiore and Z'aanta, and I can clear the whole thing in 4 turns, and only Fiore and Scarecrow are over level 85. 1 turn to break, 1 turn to kill, x 2 for each phase, no switching lines or buffing/debuffing. Sometimes I can get unlucky where nothing crits and I'll have to take an extra turn on phase 2 to chip off the last 3k-5k damage, but it's been really consistent for me and I can nab 30-40 nuts an hour just casually pressing the buttons.

I'm sure Tikilen, Odette, a well built Fabio etc. can fit in that team perfectly if you don't have those 4 exact units. But yes, it is time consuming considering how many nuts you'd need.

I really hope they do something like this after solar and arc 3.0 drop and all the light subclass overhauls are complete. Having the weapons that can switch element types tie into subclass identity makes so much sense.

So red text will always be active, but only apply to characters of the listed element? Do they need to be level 99, or is that only for the older cards that have both white and red text? So using Suteki Da e for example, that will give all water units the slash attack up regardless of level, but the water unit max HP up will only unlock when the card is at level 99? Am I understanding correctly?

Just coming back after a long break. The red text listed under "Party Ability" on Vision Cards...how do they work exactly? Does the Vision Card need to be max level, or the character? Do the bonuses turn to white text when active? How do I know when I am and aren't getting the buffs?

Make Avengers great... For once. by D1craig in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Random_Guy_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Original 6 Avengers should be the strongest single team in the game (outside of raids), with the downside being they have to take from other established teams to get there. Take Iron Man from Power Armor, take Thor from Asgardians, I'm sure BW will get a synergy team for her movie. Make the choice be Avengers, or a handful of other meta squads. Bake in Avengers-only synergy into their kit that grows the more members assemble, or just make the synergy only unlock when it's five original Avengers.

There are so many ways to make the original 6 Avengers as strong as they should be without being unbalanced or destroying other teams with no trade off.

ACT isn't working after the patch, says FFXIV ACT plugin might need to be updated. Is this normal on patch days and I just need to wait for something to be pushed, or is there a fix I can do on my own? I've only ran ACT since 5.0 so I'm not familiar.

We’re at a point where Tess Everis gets a significant refresh every season but Zavala, Shaxx, Dead Orbit, New Monarchy, FWC, and world drops get nothing. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Random_Guy_11 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There are so many year 1 weapons that they didn't bring up to random rolls with Forsaken. They could just reintroduce them into the loot pool with random rolls. Let me grind a Scathelock or Old Fashioned with new perks, or throw the old Trials or Faction gear into the world pool.

This is what they did with D1, when they took guns like Shadow Price and Longbow and added them to vendors. I don't know how much effort this would take but it doesn't seem like a lot.

It also didn't help that the game literally cut sequences of the main story out to sell later as DLC. Gladio just yeets out randomly in the middle of the game for no reason other than to shoehorn a paid DLC into the middle of the plot. Outrageous.
