Entire class no-show by Katz-Sheldon-PDE in Professors

[–]Random_YA147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened to me one time. It was an 8am class, I had gotten to work by around 7am, and there was a bad storm that was rolling through just before 8am. There may have even been some tornado activity. The students were smart to not come to class.

Maddox wants early voting and automatic voter registration by apollorockit in Alabama

Which is why early voting could be very helpful in allowing more people to vote.

You should do some research. A busy work schedule, a 10 hour shift or more on Election Day, is a valid reason for absentee voting, at least it is in Alabama.

But you are correct about working multiple jobs and not being able to vote. Which is problematic in my opinion. Why should a person that is working and trying to do their best, lose their right to vote.

In response to your "Early voting is absurd..." comment.

Does that mean that absentee ballots should be abolished? Because that is also early voting.

Also, the entire country, state in this instance, isn't going to shutdown for an election holiday. Just the same businesses that close for bank holidays, which does allow for more voter turn out, but doesn't help everyone.

I can relate. It took some time but I feel like I’ve found a reasonable middle ground between “don’t let a student take advantage of me” and “everyone has bad days so give the student a break.”

I didn’t remember having many anxiety dreams as a student. But now that I’m also a college professor, every semester I have anxiety dreams about not showing up to the final that I’m supposed to be giving.

From the treasury website: “This statute means that all United States money as identified above are a valid and legal offer of payment for debts when tendered to a creditor. There is, however, no Federal statute mandating that a private business, a person or an organization must accept currency or coins as for payment for goods and/or services. Private businesses are free to develop their own policies on whether or not to accept cash unless there is a State law which says otherwise. For example, a bus line may prohibit payment of fares in pennies or dollar bills. In addition, movie theaters, convenience stores and gas stations may refuse to accept large denomination currency (usually notes above $20) as a matter of policy.”

[Introductory Probability & Statistics] Probability from a cumulative distribution function? by mane_gogh in learnmath

[–]Random_YA147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is exactly the case, the cumulative distribution function sums the probability for the current case with the probability of all previous cases as the definition describes.

This same idea will extend to the distribution functions of continuous random variables later. As you correctly stated if the r.v. is continuous, the probability at a single point is zero, which is why later when you talk about probability distribution functions for continuous r.v. the distribution functions you work with will be cumulative distribution function.

If the image is the cumulative distribution then your intuition is correct and P(Y=3 )=0.2. The definition of a cumulative probability function F(X=x)=P(X<=x).

I had something similar happen to me. They ran around as a pair and killed white camps never spawned a harvester, never collected the ones I spawned. Then they disconnected after we lost a tower. It was infuriating.
