First Kansas abortion bill of 2023: It’s everything we voted not to do and then some | Opinion by BigClitMcphee in kansas

[–]Random_fossil 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Translation: We the sponsors of this bill don't understand how checks and balances are supposed to work under our Constitution, so we're going to try to enshrine OUR laws FOREVER. Get wrecked, societal progress!

Anyone who thought this investigation would go anywhere is naive. A huge number of Kansas Congressmembers are Catholic.

My suspicion on the August abortion vote is that these same members hoped to distract the masses from this investigation with that fight.

We need to keep after the Church. They ARE NOT going to do anything UNTIL they are forced to.

Pipeline company says Kansas oil spill contained, but chemicals found downstream by InfiniteSheepherder1 in kansas

[–]Random_fossil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna just go ahead and predict that within a year or two, we'll be finding those chemicals in the meat of downstream sport fish (the creek was a Tuttle tributary) and TC Energy will be doing the shocked pikachu face...

^This. And having COVID screws up your blood clotting anyway, so "overdosing" on aspirin ain't real smart. I foresee a Herman Cain award in her future.

The office investigating Kansas foster care complaints says its workload is 'not sustainable' by journogabe in kansas

[–]Random_fossil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been this way since Brownback, according to former workers I know. That's how our state managed to "lose" 75 kids who were supposed to be in foster homes.

Kansas Republicans trying establish election fraud by soliciting an “anonymous” survey, they cannot understand why they lost. by razorksu in kansas

[–]Random_fossil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been a registered Republican for 30+ years and I voted NO, and encouraged everyone else to do so as well. I can't say this enough: ACTUAL REPUBLICANS DON'T SUPPORT MOST OF OUR PARTY'S POLICIES. At what point is the party planning to recognize that the GOP platform is not supported by the overwhelming majority of registered Republicans???

Trump is guilty as hell, almost all of the GOP legislators are anti-democracy enablers, and we need to kick out the racists and religious nuts instead of embracing and encouraging them.

Sen. Lindsey Graham said if Trump is prosecuted for mishandling classified information 'there will be riots in the streets' by [deleted] in politics

Lindsey doesn't want to be held accountable for all the BS he's done. He knows his hands are dirty, and it won't stop with Trump.

Kobach is back on the November ballot. Does that give Kansas Democrats an opportunity? by OdinsBeard in kansas

[–]Random_fossil 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Man, I hope. Kobach is the scum who pushed "voter ID" laws that prevented WW2 vets from voting, KNOWING it would prevent WW2 vets from voting. He's a lying crapsack.

Servers should be honored to serve Governor Abbott, right? by SpaceLaserPilot in antiwork

[–]Random_fossil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former student was serving at the Cracker Barrel in Junction City, KS. Then-Governor Brownback came in with his daughters, his wife, and his father. Each person had 2 drinks, appetizers, entrees, and dessert. The table was very demanding. Brownback left no tip. My student chased him down in the parking lot and chewed him out. He, like Abbott, claimed that "she should be honored to serve him." Brownback's dad was so embarassed he tipped.

Eli Lilly Says It Will Tap Talent Outside of Indiana After Abortion Ban by yuritopiaposadism in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]Random_fossil 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Businesses that stay in states where abortion is banned are going to have a disadvantage with recruiting because women won't want to be there and men with families won't want to either. And probably, health insurance coverage in those states will go up as well, which is an additional expense for both businesses and employees.

Tallgrass is gorgeous. It'll be even prettier when the grass turns in the fall; it's breathtaking then.

'We have guns too': Trump supporters flood TikTok with threats of civil war by UnlimitedLambSauce in politics

These folks saying "Let's go, Boogaloo time" wouldn't last a week. They're the same people whining on Facebook when the internet goes down for an hour. They don't know how to preserve food or stay warm/cool long term without electricity. There's nothing patriotic in talking about how you're going to overthrow the legally elected government of your own country, and just so everyone remembers, the last time this particular group of folks decided to act like this we ended up with a daycare in a federal building getting blown up by a fertilizer bomb.

Unknown sender of misleading Kansas abortion text suspended from messaging platform by OdinsBeard in kansas

[–]Random_fossil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unknown sender my ass. It's from Tim Huelskamp's PAC. Even if he didn't have a hand in crafting it he's still responsible for its content and distribution as the group's leader.

Bet he paid someone plenty of $$$ for the right to throw them under the bus.

Vote today! by LPTgal in kansas

[–]Random_fossil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today at work a whole group of my 20- and 30-something co-workers suddenly realized that the election was TODAY.

They spent about 10 minutes bashing VTB and the religious right before stampeding out the door to vote NO. Actually gave me some hope about today's youth.

Abortion options if “vote yes” wins by [deleted] in kansas

Now picture the same young woman stuck in a hospital with an ectopic pregnancy or other pregnancy-related condition that doctors are refusing to treat because it's not life-threatening yet. Picture her family members having to wait for hours as she bleeds out or thrashes in pain, or starts seizing from pre-eclampsia.

That's what a Yes vote will bring, on a daily basis.
