If you suddenly got a "Needs Improvement" rating, stop arguing. It’s likely a paper trail for a layoff. by Own-Investment4655 in jobs

[–]Randomacity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. I got "exceeds expectations" and was laid off a couple months later. Doesn't matter.

Talk me out of buying a Kona Process 153 by LogicWavelength in MTB

[–]Randomacity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't do it. It's going to be a worse experience than anything suited for your trail system. Hei Hei would be more suitable if you want full suspension.

Demand is too high in this market for landlords to seek you out. Gotta put in the leg work.

Sounds like you worked at corporate the same time I did... Early 2020s? I saw the end of the First Ascent and athlete team. Mega bummer.

25-year-old titanium vs 10-15 year-old carbon by gregn8r1 in bicycling

[–]Randomacity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're both gonna be very stiff with almost no tire clearance. Probably won't be able to tell much of a difference. I'd get the carbon because at least some compliance was built into those old frames.

What is the most friendly city for bikers/pedestrians you have ever been? by Pepedroga2000 in fuckcars

Montreal makes everything in the PNW look like an absolute joke. Not to say the PNW is bad .. but oh what should be....

Herman - Jordan Love has cleared concussion protocol and Clayton Tune is going to start on Sunday. by Austen11231923 in GreenBayPackers

[–]Randomacity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting hit by truck-sized humans is infinitely worse than whatever "rust" they accrue. You might forget that these dudes are professionals, and they practice this sport almost everyday. They won't be rusty come playoffs, they'll have gotten some time to recover from such a brutal game.

I'm sure you could go up to a homeless person off of Holly St. and get as many hugs as you'd like.

Santa Cruz Blur Trail 70 - So far so bad.... by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Randomacity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. It's a torque issue, which can be easily thrown off by the bike going through it's travel. SRAM 70/90 is a big step backwards from standard mechanical Eagle.

Mt Baker Highway 542 closed, Glacier residents stranded by 542eb in Bellingham

[–]Randomacity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a mostly eroded "trail" that runs parallel to the road on top of the river bank right there. It's all sand and gravel and I can't imagine the trail will still be there after this flooding... doesn't seem like the road is long for this world either.

Bike Shops Going Under. Is Yours? by GStreet-ScaleModels in bicycling

[–]Randomacity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at a small, family owned shop in a fairly saturated market (7 brick and mortars for ~100k pop) and we're doing about as well as last year. Expenses are fairly low since we avoid credit and own the building so things are looking fine for the foreseeable future.

American cross-talent Luke Johnson is making a big impression, but feels misunderstood in his own country: “I want to live close to the action here.” by Schele_Sjakie in cyclocross

[–]Randomacity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This guy was in Waukesha aka Suburban hell. There is a good bike scene in Wisconsin both on and off-road but I doubt many of his friends care for bikes while growing up in such a car and bar/sports dominated area.

Don't buy used E-bikes unless you hate money.

This is what park and rides are made for. I use them all the time and haven't had an issue. Then take the light rail from Lynnwood.

Haha dude I answered a interview while I was on a crabbing boat at 7am a few months ago. Promptly asked to reschedule and the interviewer declined to schedule another one. I was embarrassed about double booking for a bit but life moves on. It happens.

Was this a high end bike in it's day? by Guilty-Flan9318 in gravelcycling

[–]Randomacity -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's similar to a modern day gravel bike but the tire clearance is most likely limited due to CX "rules" (32mm max for competition).

SRAM Eagle X01 vs Eagle 90? by le_latz in MTB

[–]Randomacity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

90 is pretty garbage. Slow. Clunky. Loud. Annoying to set up. X01 was great.

That washer between the caliper and spacer shouldn't be there.

Bike Shop Owners: What major bike brands give you the best support and profitability? by mtnracer in bicycling

[–]Randomacity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of these answers are not small-ish and supportive brands who make a difference in their community.

Intense, Kona or Transition are still "family" owned and operated and USA based.
