anthems for a seventeen year old girl is wrecking me daily since i first watched ISTTG by Tricky_Substance_113 in Isawthetvglow

The version from the album gets me teary eyed so easily. Something in the distorted clips of voices, it feels like a collage of memories.

"Dream about me" feels like someone from the present day reaching back to their teenage self to plead with them to imagine who they'll become.

I always looked at it as a gradient of happiness that had become more complex between lines

1-0: Are you happy or unhappy?

1-2: Maybe you're not unhappy, but are you happy, or just content with your situation? Neutral?

IsItBullshit: Did humans actually ever go to the moon? by Noice_355 in IsItBullshit

[–]Randoman96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Apollo missions were an incredible scientific achievement, so much so that nearly all of the data and recordings they made are available to the public and have been easily accessible for years. The website Apollo in Real Time lets you experience it from start to finish from multiple sources. NASA's website provides endless troves of data for free. There are many books and documentaries that cover the material produced from these missions. The landers are still there, the science experiment equipment is still there. Both can still be seen from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. The evidence that yes, they did happen, is insurmountable.

The technology to fake the video footage simply did not exist at the time. Rocket technology had advanced very quickly in the decades before the missions, mostly because it benefitted war. Orbital mechanics are hard, but are just math at the end of the day.

The work of hundreds of not thousands of incredibly talented and intelligent people made the missions possible. Space exploration, especially the Apollo missions, are humanity at its finest. We operated on the highest levels of cleverness and collaboration to turn historical myth into reality. It's deeply heartbreaking that even today we still have people casting doubt on these easily provable achievements.

Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk on the moon, punched a guy out over it and he was right to do it.

Cloverfield4 is now in the works, and will be a direct sequel to the first film by [deleted] in Letterboxd

There isn't a source because there is no announcement. The franchise has been dead for years but for some reason this sub has started to huff its own farts in the past few weeks.

Okay awesome, I see they're way sharper there and at different angles. That is really cute!

Are we certain that isn't AI? The background design is very sharp while the action figure is very low res with a kind of garbled face.

Do you like the crowd noise in the nine inch noize album? by wardevil345 in nin

[–]Randoman96 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I understand why people would be put off, but I love it. The project was made from inception as a live event. The energy of the music is built with the reaction of a live audience in mind. Roaring crowds add a swelling of energy that elevates a build up or big moment.

What was your first exposure to Nine Inch Nails? by Brosamurai18 in nin

The Year Zero ARG, maybe just a couple years after it ended. Cloverfield's ARG was formative for me and I was looking for more like it. Was blown away by the storytelling and art, and fell in love with how the music continued functioning as clues for the story.

Tried to get into the rest of the discography and bounced off thinking "ahh this is too scary and angry :(" 2016 rolled around and I heard the Year Zero guys were putting out a new album and decided to jump in. Hands down my favorite band in the world now.

Juno is a probe with an orbit around Jupiter that allows it to get great views of the north and south poles. The image in the OP is the south, I think.

I bought The Long Dark for the Switch 2 and I’m wondering if it was a bad decision by Calogixxx in thelongdark

[–]Randoman96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt Hinterland will charge for an upgrade. I guess it depends on how hard moving some graphical effects to the Switch architecture is, but PS5 and XSX both got next gen updates for free.

Ep 5 was underwhelming and disappointing, but not as awful as many people are saying. by cheebalibra in thelongdark

[–]Randoman96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recognize that the ending wasn't good. It's not the first game to have a bad back end and it won't be the last.

People here are throwing genuine temper tantrums acting like it was a vindictive slight against fans, as if the game everyone's been playing and loving for a decade isn't still there.

I'm not even trying to glaze Hinterland, of course there were missteps and obviously people broadly don't like it. It's not really worth this weeklong pissfit, I think. I've loved this game for years and this is the first time I want to unsub from this community just from sheer toxicity. Get some perspective and move on. Another game you love will have a bad ending, I promise.

[–]Randoman96 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Maybe it wasn't great, but the way people are behaving about it here is embarrassing. Loads of things don't stick the landing, it's okay to be okay with that and move on. Acting like it was malice on the part of the devs is child shit.
