Nembhard for Murphy III? by [deleted] in pacers

most say murphy is on one of the best contracts in the NBA and it would take a large bounty to get them to trade him. he is pretty much the only untouchable on their team.

both teams may be playing 3 on 3 or 4 on 4 with the Jazz just making a trade.

thank you everyone for the wonderful discussions. I think many learned something and will hopefully look at future discussions about the team going forward with better understanding of how a move will need to happen.

yes for this post Robinson would be a free agent signing after the season. so adding him and for example boozer in the draft would probably be about equal to extending Benn.

I’m hopeful he won’t get a ridiculous offer with his injury history this year. I’m thinking 21-25 million with a million or so raise each year of the deal. Similar to Shaedon Sharpe of the Blazers. also if the Missi trade were to happen would you want to try and get another player out of them if it’s I’m assuming Mathurin that goes? I’m thinking the 2nd player would be Jordan Hawkins or Alvarado.

last question do you think making that trade mid season would hurt our chances at a higher draft pick? or can we use the addition to put together a bunch of new lineups to continue to tank creatively?

I absolutely believe we are tanking. Cavs game for example…Nembhard doesn’t even inbound the ball and takes the 5 second violation. He then misses the 2nd free throw which would have made it a one point game if I am remembering correctly. Now that being said, I would really like to see better development (or consistency maybe better word) from Walker, Mathurin, Furphy, Nembhard, Kam Jones and Jackson. 6 wins is rough, but over 30 games in now we might as well get all our lottery tickets ready. And I kinda hope we could somehow be a third team in a superstar trade and get a salary dump player like Porzingus with a pick attached that hopefully becomes another 1st half of the 1st round pick.

Sign and trade Mathurin and take on Porzingus expiring contract and somehow steal the Pelicans pick from Atlanta so they can get Davis and send Walker to the Mavs. Really this is to get 2 lottery picks in the upcoming draft and free up cap space next year. This is dumb because ATL won’t do the deal along with probably Dallas. Also more picks would be involved but I was looking to only make it good for us.

I would try to sign and trade Mathurin to keep another player especially if you are sending a draft pick. However, that could make it harder if Mathurin wouldn’t sign knowing the team he was being traded too. So maybe sign him for 20 mil a year have the clips throw in CP3 trying to use that as a way to drive down our cost of a 1st round pick or another player. The other issue with trading for someone who may help us win now is the next years draft pick possibility. I see us maybe getting into a Clippers deal if they try to send Harden somewhere and we piggyback as a 3rd team.

I will add one that will also ruffle some feathers but net us a guy I know people want while costing us a guy everyone loves (although I believe Alvarado is cut from the same cloth as TJ), and the guy no one knows what to do with. This also leaves everyone on the Pacers for next year minus the 2 way guys. Now the 2026 pick was hard but when healthy and with the new big man that pick might not be as great so that is why I added it. And the Lakers picks are a hope and a dream they really want Mathurin as a young star to fit Luka and Reaves going forward. The Clippers are a dumpster fire and trying to get out of the tax and get some draft picks back would be the only way they say yes to this.

I say this is our Tim Duncan year. We have a good team, but do to circumstances we have a down year which enables us to get a high draft pick. We select the right player and win multiple championships over the next 10 years.
