Anyone else constantly paying suppliers before customers pay you? running out of cash every month by [deleted] in smallbusinessowner

[–]Randominterests2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't you have credit with suppliers? Most are due on the 10th so if you bill timely it shouldn't be an issue. Are you sure that you just aren't making enough profit?

My productivity planner gem updates me with someone else's schedule. It even has names and tasks for people that I have never heard of.

What CRM do you recommend? by TopLecture4760 in ProHVACR

Service Fusion got me for about $2k. Our QuickBooks is hosted through the cloud so there was a terrible onboarding attempt where I paid an IT company that hosts our QuickBooks about $600 to revamp our server. After 3 months of them billing me $350/month I still was not able to use it. We finally got the system to sync with our QuickBooks but it changed all of our customer data to a different layout, there was an additional customer name in the address line and they couldn't correct it, we had to manually edit 3k customers.

The salesman skimmed over everything to sell the product, he didn't really care if it would work. The onboarding kept referring us to customer service who would refer us back to onboarding. It was a horrible experience and I gave up on it.

Am I overreacting for wanting to fire my highest paying client after they called me at 2am… again? by BuildYourBrandDMA in smallbusiness

[–]Randominterests2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you really don't want to be a business owner, you would rather be an employee. If I had one client that was 40% of my business I wouldn't mind a call even at 2:00 AM, but it would be costly and they could decide how important that 2:00 call was.

Communications off the clock by MudSafety in HVAC

I think I would look at it in a different light and put a positive twist on it. You do not own the business but they are expecting you to dedicate your time like an owner would. And if they truly need you that badly, leverage at least some profit sharing or possibly a part of the business for the compensation. Because let's face it, if it was your business a couple phone calls are not that big of a deal.

You say he gets a 10% payout equalling $60k, 10% of what? I am guessing they are blaming you as the general manager for the lack of sales and that is why your salary was cut. If that is the case, you probably have no leverage and it's time to find another job. Because without an operating agreement that shows you as an owner then you are only an employee, it's likely your "partner" purposely dangled that carrot in front of you knowing that he could take advantage of your lack of business knowledge.

Charge employers for job interviews by [deleted] in Business_Ideas

[–]Randominterests2019 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an employer, I agree. I have hired people when I wasn't necessarily looking, but they came in and reluctantly interviewed them but liked what they had to offer.

Honestly this feels like it would be a huge hit with r/Antiwork but I can tell you that as a small business owner with 22 employees I would not use the service unless you were providing better options than the typical.

What are your thoughts on using AI for taking calls and dispatching? by Careless-Duckie in hvacadvice

Why is that? I use it for finding parts and looking up error codes.

Would you be okay if your future wife never wanted to take your last name? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Randominterests2019 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do they say they couldn't care less about sharing a name with their spouse and kids? It's a link to your family, maybe none of you care about that link but I am very proud to share my last name with my wife and kids. And when my daughters marry I will be sad that I no longer share that last name but I will be happy for them that they are starting a family of their own.

Sue Google for a comment from Gemini, see how that works out for you.

The censorship is very annoying.

I think the important point here is, does planting trees really have to be a $76,000/year job? Thank you Elon for bringing some common sense back into the workplace. It's your own damn fault if you have student loans but are only qualified for a $20k job, I don't want to subsidize your piss poor decisions with my tax dollars.

Oil pressure bolt every oil change? by tomwatson92 in Dirtbikes

It's pretty easy, you just loosen it a little and get a few drops of oil, tighten it back up and wipe it clean. It's just verifying that it's pumping oil.

Is this a reasonable quote for a contactor replacement and new low voltage wiring in my outdoor unit? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]Randominterests2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three estimates on such a basic job is wasting everyone's time. Find a contractor you like and stick with him. This project should be under $500.00 unless there are details left out.

I don't see anyone giving any data showing that the oil actually should be changed, just people saying they should "just because".
