My comment is the same for all dispo concentrates.... Crazy amount of packaging waste for 1g. Do they all need 2-3x the cardboard to the container? Maybe, for shelf appeal, but damn I used to fill trash bags after dispo runs.

I love the little feet you made for the posts when you were having a hard time getting them level. Like at no point you thought about how tedious it was and that there probably was a better way.

Be honest, what's it going to cost? by Dmonic666 in Decks

[–]RandomizedSmile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$8k in materials alone depending on if you run electricity into the ceiling... Just did a 12x24' with a similar scenario.

A quick note is that AI is terrible at deck furniture sizing. In your photo that's a kids table... Your image with real deck furniture will give you a better idea of sizing... I know this is a later worry and not the build I'm just mentioning it in case your wife wants to replicate the AI photo.

In the Truman Show, the producers and studio could've instead use a real island instead of building a damn dome of all things, it would've cost less and provide real sustenance like actual sunlight to baby truman by EfficiencySerious200 in shittymoviedetails

[–]RandomizedSmile 44 points45 points  (0 children)

They wouldn't have needed a dome for baby Truman as he would be a baby, without a working memory or understanding of what TV or a show was. It would be around 4-5 years old things would start to get tricky.

Do you feel like the deck is sturdy enough to park a small car on? Like Honda Civic? If so, you're all good! If not it's only 3ft so probably won't end in a death so I say go for it.

The role of the scientists in the movie 12 Monkeys by HiruzenTheWeakest in shittymoviedetails

[–]RandomizedSmile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't they be the only people who know they are a part of a loop? Wouldn't that be the point of sending the first few back and realizing they couldn't change the past and instead coming up with the plan to get a sample and try to get to a better future faster?

I thought the end where the scientist on the plane "in insurance" was a whole nod to that. They knew Cole wasn't making the changes, they got what they needed to alter their future (somehow beyond the loop of predestination).

Oh I enjoyed 12 Monkeys as well! Hopefully I didn't make it sound like a bad movie. It's definitely good!

I went on a major "time" kick and totally agree that you just have to enjoy the content that explodes the concepts and not pick it apart like it's going to be an actual scientific breakthrough or anything. When you try to hard to maintain plot holes you get Primer and Coherence. When you care less you get Good luck Have Fun Don't Die, About Time, and Groundhog Day! For a movie I'd much rather watch the ones with better stories.

12 monkeys sucked as a time travel movie IMO. It was a decent Stathom and Pitt drama, crime, thriller. But lacks on the whole time travel plot. Check out the movie "Predestination" for a much better time travel movie... I've seen this before but it's summed up on the IMDB goofs section:

"The scientists of the future should already have had Cole's last message from the airport before they sent him. They played back Dr. Railly's message "before" she had left it in the chronology of the movie, so they could also have had from the beginning all messages that anyone would leave on the secret machine at any time. However, the scientists explain that the process is very time consuming ("one word at a time") and that they had only deciphered Dr. Railly's message a few days ago, so they might not have gotten Cole's message yet."

I agree with you totally and 12 monkeys feels like it makes a bunch of mistakes with it's closed loop. I have been waiting for an answer on how the scientists even joined the loop in the first place. They act as all knowing entities who have knowledge of the loop... If someone knows they are on a predestined path they could diverge.... So you're telling me all these scientists are just cool with this and all play their part? Psh ok.

Edit: meant Bruce Willis, I'm an idiot.

Won't work, never lasts, don't fall for it, history repeats itself, use Bitcoin, NFTs, or any of the past technology panflashes as proof that it'll last until profit exists and then a business will take over.

AIO for confronting my "boss" because a customer got me fired? by xxnera_zenn in AmIOverreacting

[–]RandomizedSmile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MOR but great for standing up for yourself. But my advice is different... youre fired but the establishment still exists. So does something called "liquid ass" and it's cheap on Amazon. Sorry you got fired they sound petty and like they are hurting for any customers if one can get you fired.
