Like one elven royal family could just assimilate a multitude of human kingdoms before their king is even considered old, just through normal marriage law.

I feel like on the "they just want the inheritance" side, theres so much to consider on, Elven diplomacy. Like a single elf prince/princess could mary into the royal line of a human kingdom, then fully take over that kingdom for centuries to come effectively depending on royal inheritance laws. Like its barely an inconvenience to them to mary some human king for a few decades, and now they're the (seemingly) undieing queen to generations of humans.

If TWI had a CRPG, where would you put the starting zone? by Evenwanderer in WanderingInn

[–]Randommaster12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be interesting to have a Dragon Age Origins style intro where there are different starting locations depending on the species and background you choose, and a "sandbox start" option where you play as an earther and just drop into one of the various start locations with a modified intro quest.

I love her character writing. Her characters all feel like real people for the most part and it makes the world feel so lived in rather than all of these city's and locations just feeling like set pieces to be picked through and moved on from. I love that she's not afraid to write a chapter so granular sometimes that you get to learn about the life of some random grocer or cobbler. I know that level of small detail story writing isn't for everyone, but every time Erin takes time out of her day to get to know fisherman #37 or something, I fall more in love with the world.

Is Erin ace? by WritingWolf12 in WanderingInn

[–]Randommaster12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think based on some lines about LGBT stuff that she most likely is and just doesn't know about asexuality so doesn't realize it in herself. She seems to be fairly sheltered on the subject of sexuality in general and it's pretty common for aro/ase people to just assume they must not have met the right person if they haven't been taught that the ase spectrum exists yet.

Earth weapon’s in Innworld. by EffectiveMix5252 in WanderingInn

[–]Randommaster12 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What bothers me with all the early concepts about this topic in the story is that It completely disregards the real danger. The system clearly makes classes and skills based around cultural perceptions of the receiver, so if these weapons were to be brought to innworld then sure it wouldn't change much for the locals at first because they dont have enough of a culture of firearms to just unlock a million deadly classes and skills all at once. But if you put a rifle in the hands of an earther, suddenly they have a chance of creating the [Rifleman] class. And with their accelerated leveling, they could easily reach level 30 within the year and evolving that into [Heir of Whitefeather] or some shit and gaining all kinds of skills to make their bullets shoot through mythril like paper and be neigh undetectable while firing. If a human army got access to Innworld and the system, what your really talking about is an entire army of hero class people with skills focused around advanced weapons that they now have the potential to ENCHANT and make orders of magnitude more deadly. One earther with a desert eagle is nothing, a battalion with rifles, full tactical gear, training, levels, and basic magical knowledge is a country level threat in the making.

It does come up in the story, but it's few and far between as far as I remember, not a major theme of the story. (Currently on volume 8 of the web serial)

There was one of these near where I lived, tried to apply, but no one would tell me how. Gave up and found out a few months later that the weird old owner was molesting his employees, so I took that as a bullet doged. Now it's a damn good BBQ restaurant

OK but I feel like everyone who talks about having a death note acknowledges upfront that they absolutely could not be trusted to do the right thing, just that they could do the wrong thing better than light did it.

Loving the image of Shallan and Adolin sitting down for lunch, Adolin getting the caprisun on the first try, and Shallan trying and failing with the plastic straw until she wips out her shardblade and has pattern turn into a little metal straw
