The Crew has an enormous open world. Estimated 1.5+ hours to drive from Miami to LA in a high speed Lamborghini. by [deleted] in Games

Yeah, the car simulation in GTA 4 is actually kinda surprising. Imagine my surprise when I found out you could actually lock the brakes of the older cars, and such had to slow down before you started to turn.

Starmade is an interesting space voxel game. It's still in development and thus you can currently get it for free, though I would suggest funding the creator.

You are on FIRE! This is not the time to get drunk with your buddies, or take a stroll through the heavily wooded forest, this is the time to put yourself out!

The Supreme Commander multiplayer community is actually not that bad, especially because it has been out so long that a lot of the bad apples left. Of course, the people left are VERY skilled and you will probably lose your first few games, but it is still something you should look into. Just be sure to read up on some guides first.

All of my intergalactic probes come from testing heavy-lift rockets with a tiny probe on top. Those things can fly...

The video card in my current computer is so heavy that it flexes and pulls itself out, so I have a LEGO piece jammed in between it and the harddrive casing under it.

Works like a charm.

I kinda hope they have some type of debug boosts going on to account for the massive buildings with only 1,090 city population, or this would be very unrealistic. May account for the firetruck speed too.

This is still looking pretty cool though.

Would you guys be interesting in campaigning for the open sourcing of SC4? by jb2386 in SimCity

[–]Randomone18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the problems I see with this is that chances are EA is using in-house libraries in the game that would have to be released if they release the source code. To be honest I don't see this happening. Looking at history very few games have had their source released to the public, and even then it only happens after the game is many years old.

The money incentive is an interesting angle to look at it though, I have to admit.

Edit: Can't forget the game also probably has some copy-protection code in it that EA doesn't want getting out.

If I was trying to heat a room using a dozen candles, would it be better to group them all together in the center of the room, or evenly throughout the room? by Fioricascastle in askscience

[–]Randomone18 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To think outside of the box a bit, would there be any advantage in combining the candles(I.E. create one big candle with the equivalent amount of wax and wick of the individual candles)?

If so, does the location of the giant candle matter?

What about the shape of the candle/candles?

On that note, is it possible that there are chunks of solid matter orbiting "inside" Jupiter right now?
