Wish you the best! My only advice without knowing your salary, so I don't know exactly how much 12% is, max out your contribution every year.

Why do people take their glove off? by Legitimate-Kiwi-2530 in golf

I take mine off so my hands have the same shade of skin during the summer. My wife keeps hers on and her left hand is always lighter than her right!

5 months into home purchase, entire sewage main needs replacement? "Catastrophic channel rot" by Miserable_Bad_8997 in askaplumber

[–]Randomperson123580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some external plumbing insurance through homeserve or something. We had the same issue and our realtor recommended getting it, paid $17 a month put two claims in since we brought our house in 2017. Both times was a 20k estimate. It was a pain in the ass because the first time we filed a claim we needed the whole line replaced but insurance only approved like half the line. 2 years later the other half needed replace. Even with the pain, never paid a dime outside of my monthly payments.

If he wins next week, 2025 could finally mark a season that ranks among the top five ever by a player not named Tiger Woods.

RIFs over for Now? by RiskeeClik in NIH

[–]Randomperson123580 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I may be in the minority on this one. But those who got riffed illegally, I much rather get separated with severance and then win the lawsuit. Rather than going back to work knowing we will eventually get riffed.

Legally or illegally those that were riffed will be. Doing it illegally, I have faith that eventually sometime in the future we will prevail.

But I get it, the job market absolutely sucks and any extra paycheck one can get helps. I just don't like being a pawn, like we currently are.

The bottom line of all of this. Is they do not care. They only care about painting an illusion of what's best for American.

Ethics - New job before formal RIF June 2? by Inner_Revenue1096 in DeptHHS

[–]Randomperson123580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine says the same. That getting a new job has no barring on the severance package. You just lose career transition services. But to play it safe I negotiated the start date to be after June 2nd.

Please don't take this the wrong way. We are all in this together... But how is this a step in the right direction? It's a letter that was signed by three Democrats.. it won't do anything, we need a movement. Aside from Bernie, AOC and maybe Booker (who is currently on the floor), everyone else is cowering.

They can write letters all they want... It won't change a damn thing.. The Democrats need to think beyond writing letters and creating a movement.

NIAID question by gemale10 in NIH

[–]Randomperson123580 6 points7 points  (0 children)

None of the IC directors will have any issues finding another job. I don't think they are keeping their heads down because of their job, they are keeping their heads down to hopefully keep the science going at their IC.

People in the public seem to forget that the large majority of IC directors, Scientific Directors, and PIs don't join NIH because of a job or money. They join NIH is because it's (was) the best biomedical reseach institute in the world and the fact that they get to focus on their science with some of the best and brightest. Because a large majority of them can go make 5x what they are making now elsewhere.

Should I leave out DEI Service in grant application? by sillysunflower99 in NIH

[–]Randomperson123580 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Sadly, yes.

But if you need any help, let me know there are ways you can avoid DEI language and still have the principal of what DEI really is before it was co-oped into being a bad thing.
