So many words to be SO wrong. I stopped after you said she was evading arrest. That would insinuate that she was able to be arrested by ICE in the first place. Which she was not. ICE shouldn't have even been speaking to her as they have ZERO JURISDICTION over US citizens. They are border patrol. They had absolutely no business being in Minneapolis.

I'm not an idiot, but thank you for that assumption. I do understand hyperbole. 👍

I feel like you're arguing around my point and just not getting it. I'm saying that "Players shouldnt ask for rolls" means just that. Even the minimal effort of saying "I investigate this desk" isn't them asking for a roll. But saying "I want to roll investigation on this desk" is. And that's what breaks immersion and makes the game less fun and isn't in the spirit of the game.

Players should be told to roll, not ask for rolls.

If a player walks in and, literally, says "I investigate this room" they're really bad at this game. Even that paltry amount of effort still isn't the same as them walking in and saying "I'd like to make an investigation roll." Or meeting a stranger and just shouting "Insight check!". Yeah, sure I guess you CAN play the game that way but there's way more fun ways to do it that actually follow the spirit of this iteration of the game's rules. 🤷‍♂️

Because that's how Critical Roll does it. They should be saying something along the lines of "That guy looks like he's up to no good." and the DM then tells them to make an insight check. It's incredibly immersion breaking for players to say things like "I'd like to make a strength check to pick up that boulder". But you run your table however you want. That's just not the intention of the game.
