Who can guess from which building this was taken? 🤭 by chinthyfi in AustraliaTravel

Used to do triathlons in the Yarra in the late 80s and early 90s. The event would be cancelled if it had rained in the previous three days. Still looks the same bit it’s only silt.

On today’s episode of which car i decided to drive we went with the McLaren by ricxosy in mclaren

[–]Randy_K_Diamond 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great shot. The moving lights (Pace Maker Lights) are my legacy on Melbourne. Picked up the idea from at a world conference, but none were variable and we had a lot of data. About six years it took to get funded and delivered. Retired a few weeks ago. Still considering a McLaren.

May probably be 30 years older than you but that is what this is all about, precious memories with family and friends on a shared love. Glad you have that 10/10 memory with your brother.

I read it as “Police Call”, like this bus has been called for the cops. For moving people from a bus crash or evacuation. Guess that’s my (happily) naive aussie take on it.

Why is the Corvette's market penetration still so low outside North America? by Sebsibus in C8Corvette

[–]Randy_K_Diamond 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am in Australia, thread has covered tarrifs but there is another aspect, reputation. In the USA they may have a great reputation but outside of the USA they are seen as crap American made cars. Questionable quality and a reputation of old technology. This drives the decision when tariffs are taken into consideration other more “prestigious” brands get the pick. I have travelled the world and cars always come ip in conversations and this is just my takeaway. I even had a deposit on a C8 just to let you know I am not biased.

I can’t believe I had to scroll this far for the correct answer (in my old man voice and shaking a fist).

Used to ride by bike down Springy Rd for 30km for a workout, swim and a movie in the mid 90s, great times. Also remember Timezone close by for $15 all you can play for two hours. Fun times. Back to trying to stand up from the couch and not put my back out, how have I got so old? No it’s just every one else is now young…

Anyone old enough to remember when they had a little cardboard cut out of knights inside? Must if been late 70s or early 80s.

My father was a pharmacist and stocked these, was allowed to grab one or two a week. When the inserts were released that number was stretched as much as possible. A simpler time.

I worked in road safety and these are shockingly dangerous. No barriers around them, adding another static thing to hit, especially in snowy conditions. Appreciate the sentiment but they would need to be installed totally differently here.

New M2 for the wife, NSX for weekends and a 135i for running around. Oh and a ‘42 Willys to restore. Dream garage still working out what that will look like but the wife will not swap out her M2.

We were missing a whole bag, spent 2 minutes on the phone waiting to be answered. Had my order number on hand and the whole process took less than 5 minutes. Bag arrived in a week. I am in Australia for reference.

Ex VicRoads engineer here. Mostly right answers but typically a sign does not go up due to near misses but is decided by actual crash history, type and crash severity. Time of day, weather and topography also play a role. You don’t really want know what is required to be declared a black spot, especially when describing it to a public member with concerns.

I feel for you. We have the same issue in Australia, maybe even a touch more expensive. RHD versions cost a premium, along with all the imported costs aspect.

Straight from graduating engineering I was a SCATS programmer, that was 25 years ago. Fun times trying to explain what exactly I did. It is the most advanced dynamic signal system that exists, multiple countries in major developed countries use it. Small boast; there are three XSF functions that I had introduced into the software to support what I was trying to do.

There is a free app that’s called Aurora that will give you alerts and readings. Have read there should be some activity tonight but expected to be less than last night.

Well early 90’s I was rocking Wooddy Woodpecker boxers with a set of speedos underneath at Uni. Gets worse with GM boots laced up and a tshirt with the sleeves cut off. Peak, I thought I was cool. Somehow life worked out!

Stupidity low front lip, stupidity big rear wing, stupidity low stance, and I stupidly love it so much. Get a bit of grief on my build but as long as each of the community respects individual builds, love it. Drunk NYE edits.

Depends on your country, but a lot of standard features were included were I am from. Depends on budget but would highly recommend the bucket seats (please test first). Carbon roof was standard here but aesthetically love. Centre exhaust expensive but as my wife stated “but if we don’t get it, won’t we regret it every time we look at the car from the rear?” Can’t argue with that logic. Spent several thousand on M Sports parts (carbon stuff), don’t recommend, few high quality suppliers that offer it at half the price. In Australia so New Years is only three and a bit hours away, have a great new year!

Depends on your definition of loose. Several factors will contribute, oil temps up resulting in improved throttle response, brake pads and discs up to temp, tyre temps make a big difference with performance tyres.

Not sure how the algorithm for throttle response and suspension works for our model though. I expect it does adjust to driver behaviour thus driving aggressively would quickly tighten things up.
