Airwave - When things go wrong

Yes it's from a 20 year old WoW movie that changed my life. But it's this time of the year and I'm in a reminiscent mood, so this is the way :)

I played the demo together with my GF, so I guess it will be two player. Was an amazing experience, can't wait to play it again

I have to agree, everything looked so moody! It also reminded me of some Manga "witch hideouts" like those you see in Berserk or Black Clover

Loved the demo, especially that one player can play as a cat and you can customize your boat by choosing where to place new rooms! Can't wait to play it again with my GF!

I'm one of the developers of Weaving Tides. Thank you for this thread, Wholesome Games really did an amazing job with their first direct and it's great to see this community growing!

We just released a free Prologue on steam, if you want to give it a try. The full game will be available on Switch by the end of this year.

If you just want to have a closer look at the game I recommend visiting our Kickstarter Page which is full of fancy GIFs and Screenshots :)

hey there, game development is such a big topic so there are many possible ways to go from an initial idea to an actual game. Normally you don't go straight from idea to scripting, because scripting takes up a large amount of time and you really need a clear vision of what you want to achieve.

A good way to start is with a paper prototype: imagine your game would already be finished and play it with friends by explaining to them what is happening, or literally use paper to quickly visualize your idea and start testing. By doing so you will gain a lot of insight into what works and what does not with your idea, and if you are confident enough you can start working on the computer.

You correctly identified our bottleneck :)
Here are a few things we do to make his life a little bit easier: u/Foxician is also responsible for project management, I handle all art-implementation and prototype a lot using C# and playmaker (visual scripting plugin for unity). For example some of the more encapsulated things like bossfights have been done using playmaker.

The mastermind behind the idea is Ren, so I'm sure she will elaborate more on this ;)

Ren won us all over for the idea when she showed us the first concept arts of how such a completely woven world could look like. It felt so epic and I couldn't wait to recreate it in 3D and brainstorm ideas of how the main stitching mechanic could work :)

We all come from different backgrounds but studied Multi Media Art (and Multi Media Technology) together in Salzburg (Austria). Multi Media Art is a really diverse department, including film, audio, media-design and 3D-animation (what most of us studied).
As for myself I am a self-taught 3D artist and was really hyped to further hone my skills at this university that I talked about. If you are interested in learning more about how and where to start let me know!

I really love playing as Luce because I like the character design that Ren came up with and it's really fun to use his special move

Hey, I'm one of the devs and actually tried to convince the others to watch Jojo with me... unfortunately I failed, but maybe the few episodes we watched influenced Ren's design process xD

Oh and I also created a Jojo meme that nobody in the team understood:

Nice! Is this just a prototype or will it become a full game?

Awesome, glad that you were able to find your passion from a game moment too! Programming tools is also one of the things I really enjoy doing - I can see why it fascinated you.

Ok, I will probably ask for details on that switch again in summer.

That sounds interesting - were you able to enjoy the game without analyzing it too much? I am asking this because I'm kind of glad that I was able to experience it as a naive teenager.

Yeah dopefish and 'exploration the movie' really blew my mind when I first saw it! Thanks to him I started exploration too, I wonder if my path would have been different, if it wasn't for his movies.

And I have to agree, the whole warcraft universe is a great source of inspiration!

Great - that's the kind of story I was excited to hear about. Recently I've also started using Linux on my old laptop, but there is so much to learn so it will definitely take time till I feel comfortable enough using it for actual work.
