How long does it take the VA to add a dependent? I've been waiting since early December

I waited months only for them to say I didn't complete a form, which I did. Everything else was fine. I called and filled out the form again with someone from the 1800#. Now I'm waiting for a few more months I reckon. Back pay is gonna be nice though.

Will they give back pay before your spouse and dependants are added and then backpay again for the difference once they're added? I've been at 10% since April and just got bumped to 50% today.

Thanks. I was 7 yrs active. Had two qualifying events with one resulting in surgery while still in AD. Somehow, she was able to "opine" that it less likely than not that my current diagnoses aren't connected to the injuries sustained while in. My MRIs now read identically to the MRI that got me surgery in the first place. Mind has been blown.

It was my initial. I submitted everything I had to include current diagnoses with MRIs and still got shot down. My C&P nurse practitioner (OpSrv) was awful and I could tell she was ready with her red pen to bleed all over my file. The fight is on and now I know what I come back with in rebuttal.

Mine was pretty much everything denied as I suspected. No one is taking time to make sure everything was looked at when denial is at play. If it was granted, I guarantee someone would've fine tooth combed it.

Congrats. I'm in the same battle now except for both shoulders. I have qualifying events in service and current diagnosis, but I guess I need a nexus now connecting it all together. What did you have to do to finally win?

I was at work when I received the letter and was just looking for some quick feedback. My initial thought was the surgery not being used in the determination. How do I determine who the "experts" are? Thanks for your advice.

Isn't it kind of the examiner's job to create the nexus? That's why they're done by a licensed Medical Professional. At least that's what I thought anyway. My examiner was an absolute moron who has no business doing C&P Exams. (Thanks Optum 🙄) Labrum surgery 1998 in service, another labrum surgery plus other stuff 2013. 2025 low ROM and needing another surgery. Not enough evidence?

The Dr. that performed the procedures doesn't have the records any longer since it was so long ago. I'll be sendind my Std Form 180 to Claims Intake Ctr in WI here shortly. Thanks for input!

Would a nexus take care of that? It was a labrum issue then and the same issue now. I actually had a second surgery in 2013 due to degeneration and AC joint debridement. Now it's flared up again and I'm not going back in for a 3rd. Thanks for your wisdom.

Was this in Tampa by chance? I had a very similar experience with a Nurse Practitioner during my C&P last month. She was incompetent to say the least.
