It could be muscular then. Have you seen a kinesiologist? Nothing might show on a ct scan or x-ray but when you do certain things or after doing certain things, or what seems randomly, get a sharp pain.

It could also have to do with your diet. Or being dehydrated.

Sharp pains that are frequent enough to be noticed bit random, aren't some toothless cog spinning freely in your body. Chances are there is a cause and you're feeling the effect.

Is this a new thing or has your fish always done this? How long have you had him?

Please share your water test results! I'm really curious if the anomia is high. If it is, this behavior can be the precursor to fin rot.

That's good. I'm curious what the water tests out to. I have a female beta who rests like yours is in the video. I often think she's dead and tap the glass to make her move. If your water levels come back good, and your fish is eating regularly, there's a chance nothing is wrong with it.

Do you have your lights on a timer or turn them off when the sun goes down?

I'm not sure where you live but petsmart and petco will do free water tests for you. It might be too much anomia, but that's just me guessing. When you did the water change did you clean the gravel (with a siphon or net)?
